Random Thoughts Thread
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I'm in the deep South, and I've never even had chicken and waffles. I guess it's just not a thing in my neck of the woods.

Gotcha. The South has been serving no-frills fried chicken since it was settled, and I think of it as a distinctly southern dish. The fancier combinations and variants undoubtedly had their origins elsewhere, however. (We probably didn't even have waffle irons down here until the mid-1970s...Ack wrote:Whatever the case, many modern variants of the dish...

Some parts of the south still don't have 'em...MrPopo wrote:Beat me to the waffle iron joke.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Gotcha. (Seriously, though, Sarge, you need to get some chicken 'n waffles - even if you have to make the waffles yourself. It is an insanely good combination.)
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I've never actually had chicken and waffles come to think of it, outside of the potato chip flavor. Those were pretty damn good though.
Though, I did used to love making waffle sandwiches with ham, sliced carrots, and a dash of oregano when I was a teen. Strange, but all who tried it liked it.

I'm with Prfsnl. You guys need to get some chicken and waffles. Hell, I might see about cooking up some next week, as I really want some now...
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
There's apparently a really good chicken and waffle place in downtown Durham here. I've never tried it though.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Go to BoJangles or Champys for great fried chicken. Then make some waffles. Problem solved! Oh, except you have to pretty much be in the south. So if you aren't in the south, you will likely miss out on some of the best restaurant fried chicken ever made.

mmm Bojangles
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
One of my life goals is to someday eat Bojangles fried chicken.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.
