Any impressions? How good it is compared to the Saturn pad?
I read two reviews and they found it pretty good but i also read some negative user impressions, particularly to the d-pad itself and not the pad as a whole. This is surprising to me considering the fact that the pad was made specifically for fighting games.
Anyone got the SF IV Fightpad yet?
Re: Anyone got the SF IV Fightpad yet?
you would think so- but the same pad that got made for the original xbox kinda has the same problems. I don't know if it got similar reviews, but i picked one up a while ago to play some genesis games on my original xbox and it worked great for games like sonic and toe jam and earl, but for fighters it was a little weak.Haruspex wrote:This is surprising to me considering the fact that the pad was made specifically for fighting games.
I don't know why it is so difficult to make a d-pad.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the good D-pad designs have already been patented.

balls to that. Then the people that own that patient should make a new cool product directly for me and my needs.MrPopo wrote:If I had to guess, I'd say that the good D-pad designs have already been patented.

They're too busy making money hand over fist with the Wii. Kind of ironic that the company that has one of the best D-pads is trying to eliminate them all together.

yeh I have to say that even though 'back in the day' I was absolutely a SEGA rather than Nintendo man, even back then I actually preferred the SNES d-pad to the Mega Drive's - a SNES with 6 button on top layout would be ace.
I still think the amount of blister created by a hard night of dragon punches on a Mega Drive or Saturn d-pad is pretty bad, and no I dont have 'cissy hands' :p

Since Nintendo as you said is too busy, Capcom should approach Sega to make the fightpads instead of MadCatz. And perhaps Hori to make the Fightsticks instead of MadCatz. Or i am asking too much?MrPopo wrote:They're too busy making money hand over fist with the Wii. Although to be fair the biggest complains are for the fightpad and the SE Stick. TE Stick seems to be pretty solid. Of course with that price it better be!

Actually, Hori did make SF4 sticks for Capcom but it was only released in JP.Haruspex wrote:Since Nintendo as you said is too busy, Capcom should approach Sega to make the fightpads instead of MadCatz. Anyway, I've got one and it's cool. The buttons are awesome, the d-pad is good. The only issues with the d-pad are a "clicky" noise when you do charge-moves or fast movements from back to forwards or from down to up. This is because the d-pad is made by TWO plastic parts if i'm not mistaken. It doesn't make playing with it any harder though.
The other thing is that diagonals doesn't register as well when you push them on the far edge of the d-pad. Again, this only affects SINGLE presses in that direction on the far edge. Keep your thumb in the middle or just.. not all the way out, and it's all good. I wrote a quick review at my blog http://anosou.blogspot.com if anyone wants some more info.
