That's pretty damn good where I live for hourly. Especially if we ignore oil work.

I think it's a great wage considering I've only ever made $7.50 at any of my other jobs . That being said there are a couple of things which make it difficult for many people basically you are on call 24/7, only guaranteed work on Saturdays, you have to provide your own vehicle if your rural like I am, and after your first few month you don't get paid your actual hours, but what the route is rated for(I'm still working around 2 hours past what I get paid for each day ). That being said the money is great and if you can work your way to a full time job the benefits are even better although it takes years for that to happen since job bidding is based pretty much solely on seniority .

Really the application process is pretty simple and all you really have to do to qualify is schedule a testing which basically just involves going to a learning center they approve and doing a multiple choice/matching test on a computer to make sure you have the basic skills needed for sorting mail. After that you are free to apply for as many positions as possible and I heard back from all four positions I applied for although in WV they only ever used emails to notify you of interviews which were easy to miss. On the other hand the Ohio offices I applied to actually bothered to call.

Amazon greased their wheels a bit last Christmas so they have been hiring a lot of new people and getting in quite a few new vehicles, scanners, and etc. If you can get a city carrier job since you just use their vehicles mostly LLVs(they are upgrading to newer vans in a lot of places) and they do all the maintenance so you don't have to pay out of pocket when you have a break down.

Congrats to my little brother and his girlfriend of God knows how many years (about 4-5?) for finally getting married.

It's weird to me how many couples are married but have been together far less time than my girlfriend and me.

Sort of similar here too. First we were going to wait until we graduated college. After that we wanted to wait until I earned my MBA. Then we waited for my wife to get her Master's degree. Then we waited until we both had well-paying careers. Then we finally got married.

I was having dinner with my family and my cousin announced she was engaged. I mentioned "That was quick!", to which my wife replied "Luke. Not everyone waits a decade to pop the question", and that response my parents laughing rather hard.

Times change. I know guys in their sixties who call their own daughter a whore for "living in sin". I don't think my wife's Grandparents ever knew that she and I lived together for around six years before marriage. We were told to keep a secret because I guess the assumption if you live together that has to mean you're having lots of sex.

Well, we were. But that's not the point. Wait. Do I have a point?

Yes! Parents need to be a little less uptight about sex. Daddy's little princess is going to have sex, so accept it. I am sooooo glad I lived with my wife before we were wed. Call it a trial run if you will, but I know best friends who became room mates and then hated each other. I also have friends who sleep in separate rooms from their partner to "save" their marriage.

And I know their are a lot more couples who prefer to have their own separate bedroom, but I find that peculiar. Just wondering what happens if the wife asks "Wanna go to the bedroom?" do you respond with "My place or yours?".

It just dawned on me that I don't have a single friend who has gone through a divorce. I consider Dish an -E friend, but I've never witnessed a friend going through one. I've seen plenty of break-ups, but not the big D. Wonder if the divorce rate is dropping.

It is for two reasons: (1) the marriage rate is declining; and (2) people who do get married are waiting until later in life to do so.

Also, BTW, my wife and I dated only two years before we were engaged; we were engaged just under a year; we lived together for less than five months before marrying; and we are approaching our ninth wedding anniversary. Accordingly, I do not think that you have to date for a very long time before getting married, but I do think it is very important to wait until your personality is fully developed before doing so. (When we were married, I was 26, and my wife was 28.)

Yeah age is a factor. When I met my wife she was 18 and I was 19. We got married once she was finished with college (7 years) and we had established a stable housing situation and had our finances in relative order.
