Guys!
I'm in Boston now!
My Vermont brain is melting with all the different foods and such around here!
It's fun! It's hip! It's craaaaazy!
It's also very overwhelming. Good times, though! I start work at Harvard tomorrow, working a few blocks away from Fenway. Gonna catch a game this week!

Ticked - company just unveiled an online ordering system that will cause massive layoffs in the near future. Still trying to jump ship just want to get a job before these layoffs move in.
Smiled - Found the new Magic Planeswalker Arena boardgame at Walmart yesterday. While I stopped playing Magic in the time of Ice Age, this game is pretty much Heroscape with a magic system. My wife and I played a tutorial game last night and are hooked. The Heroscape terrain is coming back out. This is going to be awesome. Half of my kitchen table will be a battlefield going forward.

Car wouldn't start this morning. Have to tow it to the shop tonight. Fortunately, I can bike to work, which I did. Only an hour late.

I wonder if that's why one of the shady characters in the game, Life is Strange, is named Nathan Prescott?Luke wrote:Well, you learn something new...

It is Heroscape with a magic system, based in the MTG universe. It plays fast, loose, and cheap. At $30 a starter, right now you are from box to game in about five minutes once you learn the rules (obviously this will be longer when there are more than two units per color). I was not going to buy it until we knew how expansions would be handled, known or blind buys, but saw it and my wife threw it into our cart. Played a match last night and it took 30 minutes. Then spent the rest of the night painting the figures. Grab it if you can find it. It plays five players out of the box for $30. Hard to find a better value on the market right now.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Didn't know this existed! Very cool.fastbilly1 wrote:Found the new Magic Planeswalker Arena boardgame at Walmart yesterday.
Apparently we will learn more at PAX.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I looked it up on Amazon, it looks pretty fun.
I wish I had adult friends around where I live who weren't too uptight and crotchety to enjoy boardgames. I ended up giving away and selling off all my old boardgames because of that reason (I had a lot of stuff at one time). I still have Dungeon and Dark Tower and that's it. The only time I get to play board games anymore is when I'm around my fiancee's 11 year old cousin. At least he still enjoys them.

I don't know what it is about most adults that makes them think they're not allowed to do fun stuff anymore now that they've gotten older.

Seriously. Last Saturday night I played Dungeon with said 11 year old and my 17 year old daughter and we had fun. The rest of the adults in the house were content to sit around a table drinking beers and talking about the most banal shit you could possibly imagine. As a 36 year old man I'd rather roll dice and collect magic swords than suck liver poison and discuss hospital hiring practices any night of the week.
