A neat trick that has it's benefits if your strapped for quarters at an arcade/diner.

The Galaga/Mrs. Pacman cabinets have a special glitch that gives you some free play. During the demo, tap the fire button when the ship gets captured. You should be able to shoot the alien down and gain control for the remainder of the demo.

The machine will crash after the allotted time for the demo has passed and reboot itself.

Remember that only two shots per ship can be on screen at once. This is the real reason it's so critical to get the second ship, as it massively boosts your fire rate. Before then you need to be very careful with your aim to avoid being without the ability to shoot while an enemy is dive bombing you.

Also, the bees have a tendancy to loop around as they are going off the screen. Always be on the lookout for that so you don't die to collision.

-Study formations and patterns. You can find them online. If you know what they are, then you can better prepare yourself for the next wave, and especially the bonus wave.

-Try and point press. The Boss Galagas can earn you up to 1600 points when shot down with 2 red enemies, 800 with 1, and 400 by themselves. But remember, this is only when they are in flight.

-Do not get trapped in the corner. Try and project where they will fire, and avoid it.

Galaga is my favorite arcade game. I've played it ever since I was a toddler.

Get your second ship as quickly as possible
Dont stick to the corners.
Learn your bonus level's so you get maximum points and free lives
While lines of enemies are coming in, move with them steadily left or right.
Anticipate your enemies path and focus fire there.
Play like a rockstar, and get crazy. Galaga is just so much fun so just enjoy it!

I read the strategy wiki, and maybe I'm just dense, but I dnt really understand what is meant by "get your second ship".

The big guys at the two have two different attack patterns. In one they do a standard bombing run. In the other they will dive to the bottom of the screen and release a tractor beam. If you are caught in the beam they capture your ship, which costs you a life.

When you respawn you will see your captured ship behind the big guy who grabbed it. The big guy and the capped ship will make bombing runs at you. If you kill the big guy without harming the captured ship you will get your second ship. The two ships combine forces and give you double the firepower.

wow. That's pretty badass. I'll have to try that. So far, I never let my ship get captured, so I didnt realize.

Dude! This kills me. This is like not knowing that the power pills turn ghosts blue/edible in Pac-Man.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, it just goes to show we all have our own experiences.
