The PKK is a terrorist organisation, fuck whoever says otherwise.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/worl ... /31013917/

They haven't changed their ways. Doesn't mean the Kurds don't have a valid cause, but the PKK is a terrorist party that seems to cling on to their old ways.

Poland is already part of the NATO fanclub no? They also are also buying the anti-Russian missile shield system. Money well spent  Russia can steamroll Poland in days, shield or no shield. Keep poking the russkie bear, Pollacks. (Disclaimer: Not a fan of Putin's Russia, but I can't find any good guys to cheer for either) My personal hope is that Europe forms its own defence initiative and just remains ally-friends with the Yanks, but internal turmoil just means this will never happen. NATO's raison d'être has always been antagonising Russia/China and keeping the mideast under tabs (and failing miserably in every conflict). It is not a benevolent alliance.

The worst thing about the current political climate is that we are going to have to endure the likes of Erdogan or Viktor Orbán for at least another electoral cycle. :(

Catalonian independentists are going all in and have pacted a single independentist list for the next election, calling for independence in six months. They lost a huge amount of votes during the last election and with a recovering economy and many of its past leaders being revealed as corrupt the "cause" is losing ground fast but with a huge propagandistic fervour right around the corner, I fear they might pull a fast one and do much better than they should.

Because national politicians aren't really doing anything. The two big parties caused this whole issue by pacting with the nationalists in the first place and of the two newer formations only one is actively engaged on the issue, the other wants to tip-toe around it because they are afraid of losing the enraged voter.

The worst thing about it is not that it fucks Spain over, it's that it fucks the whole of the European Union. If a member country splits in two, it's all over. No place for me to go, it's going to be fucked everywhere.

There seems to be a clique who are out to cause chaos and turmoil everywhere in every damn sector. What is it they want? Hell if I know.. A century ago the fate of the world was decided by a handful of inbred aristocratic fucks, and now that group has shifted and enlarged thanks to advances in technology and turbulent transfer of property and wealth, but things still go more or less the same way. Feel free to disagree.. I never believed the common folk got a say in anything more important than stupid idol shows and which end of genitalia gets to get into whatever other end

Interesting interview with Medea Benjamin, pretty much agree on all accounts. NATO is a relic of the Cold war, enough with the military industrial complex telling the world how to run their lives etc etc. Perhaps instead of developing tkynet and terminators we should focus on how to make this planet sustainable for everyone to live on without leaving crumbs for future generations of all species.

I disagree. I think we need NATO.Mmostly because as Ukraine has proven, Germans will not move a finger if it doesn't turn them a profit, the British would not get involved if the Americans won't, the French at least might but them alone are not enough.

I'm not saying it's good, but I'd rather have an evil world police that has to answer to a liberal minded electorate.

I think we could do without the UN, honestly. That organization is a farce.

The UN is an imperfect organization, but I think it is necessary and does accomplish the goal of setting international standards of behavior. Sure, nations break international law all the time, but imagine how things would be if there weren't international law or cooperation at all.

100 Photos Inside North Korea, Part 1 and Part 2. Very interesting. You can get a glimpse at what their government is trying to hide in a couple of the photos that don't contain obvious propaganda.

N.Korea will never open up. It will threaten the deification of the ruling dynasty. The supreme leader will just have his pet projects and have the rest of the population remains slaves indefinitely.

I wish I could address Putin, tell him killing dissenting voices is so passe. Just buy out the competition like they do elsewhere, and make the rest look like conspiracy nuts. Playing devil's advocate (AGAIN), this scene from Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears sums Russian doctrine since time immemorial. Russia didn't initiate invading half of Europe out of Commie fervour, the Nazis started it for lebensraum.

President delivers impassioned plug for his Clean Power Plan http://wapo.st/1g1R8pu

Effing republicans, they don't like science unless it can turn in instant profit for them. Where else in the industrial world could you find such specimens? Anyway even if Obama's move isn't enough, it's better than nothing. Still think we're screwed though.

I could say the same thing about Democrats.

Anyway, it's not going to be the rich that will get screwed, it's going to be us little guys when our power bills go through the roof. Then I'm sure, once energy companies are sufficient demonized for "screwing the little guy", the government will coming riding in and save us all by nationalizing the energy industry.

I say this partly in jest, but it also would not surprise me in the least if it actually happened.

What's worse is that we trudge forward with this stuff based on what might be fifty years of good data, in a climate that has variations on the order of thousands of years and has existed for orders of magnitude longer than that. What do we get out of it? Maybe a tenth of a degree difference in projected temperature, while wreaking destruction on those that can least afford it? No thanks.

The one thing I agree with is money is the driving factor. Follow it. Many of the folks supporting this type of policy stand to benefit from it tremendously.
