Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I'm doing my best to promote and encourage people to pick up cheap 3rd party games in the hopes that we'll get more. Even if they aren't the AAA titles that are found elsewhere it's better then not having it.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Thanks for the heads up! I have Legend of Kay Anniversary, Mighty No. 9, Rodea The Sky Soldier , and Shovel Knight on my want list. Are any other forthcoming third-party games getting a physical release for the WiiU? (Also, will either Devil's Third or Fatal Frame see a domestic release?)jmbarnes101 wrote:I'm doing my best to promote and encourage people to pick up cheap 3rd party games in the hopes that we'll get more. Well, I think it's a pretty sure bet that Skylanders SuperChargers, Guitar Hero, Disney Infinity 3.0 and LEGO Dimensions will be physical. I assume the upcoming Just Dance will be as well. Snoopy's Grand Adventure probably will be, too. And I think Terraria is supposed to get a physical release. At least they made it out it sound that way. But I could be wrong about that.
Nintendo's own website still lists both of these as coming out some time later this year (either Fall 2015 or Q5 2015).(Also, will either Devil's Third or Fatal Frame see a domestic release?)
Devil's Third is still showing a picture of a physical box, but the Fatal Frame image is using the same icon as as the eShop releases. So I'm going to lean towards no physical release for that one, sadly.

Older. Not wiser.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
That is an uphill battle, though I do commend you for it. The irony of Nintendo's position is that their most ardent fans (like myself) do nothing but perpetuate their 3rd party drought. If it has Mario, Samus, or Link on it, I'm buying it. If not...well, hopefully it was made by Platinum because otherwise I'm probably going to pass.jmbarnes101 wrote: I'm doing my best to promote and encourage people to pick up cheap 3rd party games in the hopes that we'll get more. Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Well, on the bright side, Legend of Kay was surprisingly good. I really enjoyed it on PS2.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Fatal Frame was confirmed by Nintendo of America as being digital only. Not sure how many people care, but it's a huge kick in the balls for me - other regions get retail copies, other regions get deluxe releases with cool bonus materials... we get the first chapter as a free playable demo.
I understand they do this because they are worried about the number of sales, but it's hugely disappointing and frustrating that one of only 2 games I care about this year on Wii U isn't getting a retail release (unless you live anywhere else in the world).

Well then don't buy it. Or hack the system to read international if that's possible, and buy what you want, not what they want to halfass force on you to buy.
Nintendo of America alone has done this more and more on some good releases over quite a few years now before the WiiU popped up too. As a pointless show of protest if they did a q&a or some feedback I'd let them know I didn't buy it and never will until they physically release it since they region lock the systems.
I see no reason just because it's Nintendo or because the WiiU is suffering to basically give in and let stuff like that slide by so they think it's acceptable. This is how I handled the Duck Tales game too on WiiU. I did the same thing with Sony/Bethesda with Wolfenstein the Old Blood. They tried to force a download only on us while everyone else got a disc. Apparently there was so much lack of sales combined with bitching about it along with others buying the english PAL version they basically had their hand forced and then I bought it (US ver, was days from importing when I saw the story break.)

Not possible currentlyTanooki wrote:Well then don't buy it. Or hack the system to read international if that's possible, and buy what you want, not what they want to halfass force on you to buy.
The original Ducktales Remastered release was just a download code. All the consoles got the physical release on the same day.Tanooki wrote:This is how I handled the Duck Tales game too on WiiU.
