CoolBoy Famicom Multicarts

Post by Snatch1414 »

So I bought two of these (the 400 in 1 and the 198 in 1) and I'm using a fami adapter I bought from another site awhile ago on a normal NES toaster. I can't get these things to play. Once in awhile I get a green screen instead of my usual pink, but that's it. Everything has been cleaned.

Anyone have experience with these and know what I might be doing wrong? Is this method a valid way to play these? I don't have a normal fami cart to check and make sure it's not the adapter unfortunately, but everything seems fine. Thanks

I'm not sure if we have the same cart, but I have a 400 in 1 and it refuses to boot. I got it from afrom a guy here and he agreed to send me another. The replacement works fine... same cart and everything.

I'm using it on a cheapo famiclone though.
...just another lost soul...

More information on the adapter is needed. Does it have the matched 10NES chip or just a pin adapter? Could also be the duel connection going thru the toaster. Best to get a Gyromite game with built in adapter cart and insert the Famicolm game inside the oversized NES cart shell to keep the connector geometry correct.

Is the cart being inserted into the adapter facing the right way? Is the adapter being inserted into the NES facing the right way?

I'm confident the chip is the right way (the detailed side up), but at the risk of sounding stupid I thought the adapter was the same no matter how you inserted what into where.

Nope, it's not the same. If you insert either the wrong way it wont work.

Ok great, that actually gives me hope. Now all I have to do is figure out which way is which....

Well I could tell ya this much...

The FC cart should be inserted into the adapter so that the IC's from the FC cart are facing toward you, but the IC on the adapter is facing away. This is true for the adapters found inside NES carts (like Gyromite) anyways. Which way the adapter is to be inserted into the console, that I couldn't tell you off the top of my head. When I get home, I could open mine up and see.

Cool thanks. So the fami cart goes backwards basically? At any rate I'll just have to mess around with it.
