I've been thinking quite a bit about those colorblind glasses that were brought up a while back. (Can't remember which thread, but lately the search function on the site has just been giving me a 404 error).

I'm colorblind but rarely even think about it. I mean, my undergrad degree is an art degree so I had to go through all the life drawing and color theory stuff to get my degree and I did just fine by asking for other people's input when I felt I needed it. I can only think of two negative instances where it came up in my life.

Once, in seventh grade I accidentally made a partially purple and blue sky on a perspective drawing and my teacher gave me a really low score. It was either a D or F iirc, but other than that mistake it was pretty good. When I explained to her that it was a simple mistake from being colorblind, she called me a liar in front of the whole class. Another time, in my first color theory class, I went up to the instructor early and told her I might ask seemingly redundant or strange questions because I'm colorblind and with much attitude she told me to "get over it."

Of course, there's also funny stuff like having no idea peanut butter wasn't green until I was like 23. Blew my 80+ year old color blind grandfather's mind.

Anyway, one of the more frustrating aspects of being colorblind is it's hard to explain when people ask you about it. Since my girlfriend works at an eye place now, I told her the Optometrist might be able to explain it better than me. When she asked him, he said to imagine it, she should imagine having a gray filter over certain colors and imagine the world as slightly more dreary. Man, that kinda made me want to try those glasses.

Nevermind, I took their test on the site and since I have strong red/green colorblindness there's only a 30% chance the glasses will even work and may take weeks for my eyes to adjust.

Is it just me or has the last 2-3 years been really bad for music? Usually despite the crap that makes the top 40 charts, there's been stuff below the surface that was pretty good. Lately I'm digging and still struggling to find anything worth listening to.

Not that I'm not still finding good stuff from years past, but it just feels weird I can't find hardly any decent stuff with a recent date on it.

I think it depends on your personal taste. I liked the album Glean by They Might Be Giants, which was released this year. (I'm pretty sure it's also the only 2015 album I have.)
I can't think of a favorite 2014 album off the top of my head but for 2013 there were two I especially liked. My favorite was probably We're Gonna Die by Future Wife and after that would be Nanobots by They Might Be Giants.

IDK, I'm also pretty content to rummage through weird old surf rock records and stuff so I don't feel strongly compelled to keep current.

I've noticed this too. I tried to block all the mods when I first joined. Eff the system.

Just kidding. I love the mods.

As far as music goes - like video games, I am perpetually stuck in the 90s.
