Who's hyped here? Anyone else pre-ordered? What platform are you going to play it on?
I can't wait, seems like it's farther away than just a little over a month. I'm probably going to disappear for a day or two when I finally get it for my PS4. Just gotta dodge spoilers once they start leaking to the internet soon...

That's gonna be the hardest part.BoringSupreez wrote:Just gotta dodge spoilers once they start leaking to the internet soon...
I plan to buy it as soon as it's released for 360. In the meantime, I still need to play MGS 4 and Ground Zeroes, both of which I own at least.

What is the hivemind consensus on Kojima's name being removed from the credits?
Thy ban hammer shalt strike

Re: Metal Gear Solid V
Was it removed from the credits, or just on the box? I don't think the last entry had his name on the case, either.
Re: Metal Gear Solid V
Not the credits, just removed the box art/promotional covers. Notice most of his previous games say "A Hideo Kojima game" some where above/below the title.Sarge wrote:Was it removed from the credits, or just on the box? I don't think the last entry had his name on the case, either.

I think it's rude on Konami's part. I get that they're firing him, but it's still his creation. If it weren't for his involvement, there'd be far less hype for the game. Konami should wait until they start producing their own MG games before they stop including his name.Pulsar_t wrote:What is the hivemind consensus on Kojima's name being removed from the credits?
They also removed the Kojima Productions logo next to the Konami logo, which I really think was a bit too far.
From what I've seen in the trailers, and what's already been released in Ground Zeroes, they look great. They're actual cutscenes, instead of the comic book sequences seen in Portable Ops and Peace Walker.BoneSnapDeez wrote:How are the cutscenes shaping up?

Re: Metal Gear Solid V
I have read other folks say this on forums as well. But I cannot find any credible sources saying Konami is firing him, let alone why in the world they would do so. Have you seen any official news stories or sources that explain this mess?BoringSupreez wrote:I get that they're firing him

Re: Metal Gear Solid V
There's no official statement, because Konami doesn't want to slit the throat of Phantom Pain's performance. If they came out right now and blatantly said, Kojima is no longer employed by Konami, the game would suffer financially. Big time.
The only things Konami has said is they're staffing to make the next Metal Gear Solid. Which strongly implies it won't be done by Kojima Productions. Also, Kojima Productions' name has been changed to Konami USA. Konami has also stated that Kojima Productions is no longer an independent entity, and will now follow a head quarter controlled model. This was announced at the same time as the name change.
If he wasn't fired after this project ... they would say so. Considering the fact that pretty much every media outlet and Metal Gear fan is under the impression Phantom Pain is Kojima and Kojima Production's last Metal Gear game, Konami would have set that record straight. Because all this information does is potentially damage the title's performance.
As for why the name is removed from the game, that's just up to speculation.
Some people are arguing Kojima could have demanded his name no longer be on the product. Maybe there's a legal reason if they dissolved Kojima Productions. It could be Konami distancing Kojima's name from Metal Gear Solid as soon as possible. Personally I think it's the last reason. Phantom Pain isn't the only Metal Gear game Konami is removing Kojima's name from. It's also happening with Ground Zeroes and the Legacy Collection.
But, the guy's studio doesn't exist any more, Konami has stated all employees are considered contract workers until the completion of Phantom Pain. Many of those workers have said they'll no longer be with the company after the game is done.
All signs point to it, but no Konami has not directly said that Hideo Kojima is no longer an employee.
I'm not putting up links, because this has been going on since the end of last year. I don't know of any place that sums it all up. But all signs point to Kojima's last MGS title, and Kojima Productions final title.

I liked GZ but I'm not certain that I'll be buying the next entry day-one or not. I might just wait and see if anyone I know gets it so I can borrow it off of them when they're finished.
