The subsidies are for the consumer - not the farmer. Without the subsidies the farmers would have to charge actual costs; some would get out completely, and you and I would be paying $14 for a gallon of milk.

Minnesota just killed over 8 million birds this spring (bird flu). Without the government subsidizing their losses we'd have been paying $6-7 per dozen eggs. That's not the farmers benefitting - they are going to get compensation for the product they produce. 5 dozen eggs at $10 or 1 dozen eggs for $10, whatever their costs are to produce that dozen eggs. The money that went to the farmers was to keep OUR costs down, not theirs.

There are few areas I think subsidies do actually benefit the greater good, but this is one that does make sense.

Buh Dum-tiss:

So I'm at my physicians office and shortly after reading my chart he tells me "Luke. You need to stop masturbating".

Worried and a bit shocked, I ask him "Why?".

He responded with "Because I'm trying to check your blood pressure."

Okay... Jack off jokes are easy. but that premise is funny.

Bill Simmons and now Colin Cowherd. Say what you will about Colin, but he made for interesting radio.

Smile: Im leaving for Zagreb tomorrow woo! Im in Sarajevo right now after visiting Mostar and Dubrovnik. Its being a really fun trip and everything's quite an experience, Im loving it so far. :-)

Ticked off: The national museum is closed because of funding problems which is an incredible shame. The History musum had a gut-wrenching exposition on the siege of Sarajevo and the war that I thought was incredibly well done so it was a shame not seeing more stuff like that.

:) Got the lawn mowed completely - beautiful day.

:D Cooled off in the pool afterward.

 Making burritos now with fresh tomatoes, cilantro, jalepenos and banana peppers from our garden.

:P Watched "The Sandlot" for the first time ever last night w/my kids (I know...I know) and yeah - great flick for kids and great nostalgia laced images for me. I had NO IDEA that
you're killin' me smalls
came from that movie. I've been using it since high school; just picked it up from my friends and whatnot and never had a clue where it originated.

 We drop the kids off at their Grandma's place down-state tomorrow for a week.

Depending on how my kids have been acting... it might be a green smiley instead of a sad face next to the line stating that I'm dropping them off at grandmas house for a week.

:D Moving in two weeks!
 Moving in two weeks?!

Seriously though, I'm really excited to move but it's always so stressful for me! ><; Plus I'm moving to the States so I have to deal with the border crossing, which I hate cause it almost always feels like an interrogation. But it will be worth it in the end since I'm moving in with my boyfriend :)

I'm mostly packed from moving out of my old apartment though, so now I just have to deal with having very few games to play from now until then lol
