What RPG are you playing right now?

I'm playing Ys I for the first time via the Steam port and having a blast. Just running into stuff may be one of my favorite mechanics ever. Everything is so fast!

Yeah it's so fluid and awesome. The quickness of Adol in those ports actually speeds up the pace of the overall game too. I can take down Ys I Chronicles in under 3 hours.

Been playing the hell out of Akiba's Trip, although I'm genuinely curious, would Akiba's Trip be considered an Action RPG?

In any case, I'm currently on my third playthrough.

If you think the old Ys games are fast paced, you will really be enthralled with the pace of Ys Origin and Ys Seven. Those games are running on undiluted cocaine compared to average action-RPGs.

Ys Origin is probably my second-favorite Ys experience, after the masterpiece that is Book I & II on TurboGrafx CD.

Ys Origin is available digitally on GOG. Or Steam if you enjoy leasing games. Play it. It rules.

Oh and make sure you dudes play Ys II as well. Don't skip out on that one.

Is it just the music that makes you say the TGCD versions are definitive?

Also, YES, Ys Origin is absolutely amazing. It's my favorite Ys game.

Yep, I think I'm gonna have an Ys weekend here. Looking forward to going through II while I is still fresh, then I'm eyeing Origin.

I recommend the GOG version. I consider it a must play, and I don't say that often.

Ys III (TGCD) - 7/10
Ys III Oath (PC) 8/10
Ys IV (SFC) - 4/10
Ys V (SFC) - 7/10
Ys VI (PC) - 8.5/10
Ys Seven (PSP) 9/10

I own a few more but haven't played them yet. IMO Ys is the best action-RPG series out there.
