So I saw some conversation about Marvel vs Capcom 2 in the Games Beaten thread, and it led me to play again.
I like to experiment with teams and see which 3 do the best with the team combo. For years I've used Iron Man/War Machine/BB Hood, but I also found subsitutes for WM like Megaman, Cable, Ryu, Cyclops, and Anakaris (the latter being a favorite swap).
Sarge mentioned a team of Iron Man/Cable/Captain America, and I liked the complimentary style, Cap with the Charging Star and then fire spam from the other 2. Now on the save file I took from the Dream Explorer ISO, the top score on that has a team of Jill/Iceman/Cable which is a VERY nice team with the Rocket Launcher/Arctic Attack/Hyper VB. I also saw a team online with Sentinel/Storm/Magneto, that didn't have a lot of flash but boy did it do a LOT of damage.
It felt good to literally dust off the Dreamcast again. I haven't played it in a while.
How is your Dreamcast gaming going on?

Yeah, Storm and Sentinel are boss, and Magneto is slightly under them. They're all considered "god" tier by the MvC2 community. I've never been able to efficiently use any of them... but then I haven't tried, either.
I'm not a combo-happy player. I'm still trying to pick up on more consistent air combos, which are made a lot easier if you've got someone with a decent launcher. Some characters just aren't set up very well for it. It's actually a little weird, I tend to play MvC2 a little more defensively than most, and I'm really aggressive in something like Capcom vs. SNK 2.

I never regularly use them, so it put me a bit off. I'm not that great of a player but I played it when it first came out in the arcade and I was able to snag a copy over 10 years ago when it was still affordable on the DC (under $20 I think). My DC was dusty. I took care of that today. I forgot how much fun Jill is too. All those crazy characters she can call out and of course the "Tyrant" hyper combo. Plus Life Up assists.

I've never been any good at MvC2, so all I can contribute to this conversation is: Who know who's cheap? the Sentinel. Everyone bitches about Cable, but the Sentinel absolutely owns his ass.

Another cheesy character that's interesting for one reason: Iceman. He doesn't take chip damage from most super attacks, so you can turtle it up pretty well.

Iceman was cheesy (and I liked him) in the original X-men COTA game. His giant ball o' ice he could drop on you was pretty oppressive.

As easy as paring your punch and kick attacks.

Yeah he still has that attack in MvC2. It is fairly annoying as it compliments Bobby's playstyle allowing him to control screen space and play decent keep away from the opponent. HCF + K is the motion I believe.

Started playing Grandia 2 again. First time since hmmm over a year ago. My main complaint about the game is that its a bit easy and a bit too linear. Otherwise i really enjoy this. Strange thing happened everything was going fine for the first few hours. Then the game would lock up an freeze. I switched DC units and its been fine since. There is a very fine superficial "scratch" assuming thats the problem.
Curtsy when you walk by that Dreamcast
