Oh crap. There is also different color font on the front depending on which colr model is purchased. Perhaps a picture showing the difference in the backs of the boxes you mentioned? All units can be software upgraded, the concern is the hardware cart connector and other console case issues.

Yeah, both revisions have the wedge.

The new revision came out late last year to coincide with the UK release (unless I read wrong), so I imagine unless a store has been sitting on old stock, they would be the later revision.

Actually (from memory) but you're right about the boxes there are differences between the original garbage model and the modern one that was durably built and functions better. It was very minor stuff, you'd need a side by side image to catch it which is why I never went into detail as I don't have the old box anymore just the new one.

They all had the wedge as they released it after they went with that uniform box design. My supaboy is the modern one as they never revised it again but it is in the old rectangle box with no cut to it. Given it has been like six plus months since they fixed them unless you have a store in the boonies that never moves stock I can't see how you'd end up with an old style one especially if it's new and if it were used, then you'd request to pop the box open and give the top a nudge. If it is solid you're good, and if it bends it's junk. Hell I'd do that with the new one since it's the only one the store has, let them know the sale depends on it. :)

Is there an official change log? I was under the impression the only differences are:

- Loosened the grip on the carts
- Dust protectors for the controller ports
- Plastic changed for the cart slot dust covers.

Am I missing anything else?

Will Hyperkin ever release their own "Power Base Converter" for the R5? Kinda funny how, at the present time, a 25-year-old piece of hardware is required for Master System games.

Well I just use my tototek Master System/MarkIII Converter. It works fine. Pretty sure that's of a more recent vintage. :P
Or am I not understanding your point?

Hyperkin doesn't make one but the PowerBase Mini is compatible.

Only problem is the lack of card-based games which probably isn't a deal breaker for most people.

speak for yourself broski i just got ghost house on sunday

I guess I'm just surprised Hyperkin isn't making an SMS adapter themselves. Then again they didn't bother to provide a dedicated slot either, so perhaps the system isn't as popular as I might imagine.
