If I could have any bod from a video game to have while lounging around a pool, it would be Sagat from SF2.

He's, what, around 7'2, built like a tank, cool trunks, and an awesome scar to sport.

And you'd have a patch to sport for parties.
Lol!

Did any one every buy a CD console and played it so much that the laser died? Those things last a long time. Last time I heard about laser dying I think was with the PSX.

What if I told you that you are more likely to die than the laser on the system you're playing.
Whoa, right?
I know, man. I know. Crazy.

My friend gave me his model 1 Saturn that no longer reads discs. He played it a LOT.

Lots of PS2s had DREs.

My first Dreamcast developed a problem with the disc drive. I've heard plenty people say they had trouble with a Dreamcast.

With CD consoles, it's not JUST the laser you have to worry about. The disc drive is made up of lots of parts, just one of which has to go bad for you to have a problem.

Heh.

Yeah, you're more likely to have issues with the gears or belts that move the laser than the laser itself. The gear issue is a common enough one for the TG-16/PCE that some users have taken molds of the original in efforts to make replicas for replacement. Another common issue for things like the oXbox are the disc tray motor.

I like to think that, since the lasers were never alive, THEY CAN NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!!!

Reeeeealllly shouldn't. Should just wait until I'm in my new house in another year or so and buy 2 matching candies then. But holy crap I'm tempted.

A legit should run you $650 and shipping - get a pair for $1,700 to your door. I'd save up and go that route.
Yeah, like I was telling you the other day, I'm more than likely going to go that way. Just seeing it right there rather than having to wait months on a group buy or something made me double-take.

But yeah, just gonna wait until I get the new house and go the twofer route then.

Here's the peace of mind though - at a very last resort, you can always buy from Ken at the Gameroom if you are unable to find a deal when you start looking seriously. They'll be a bit dirty, probably need new buttons, but you'll have working cabs delivered within 10 days of sending him money.

So thats good news, because the belts and gears are easy to create a replica from than the actual laser lens... or so I think. Does each console has a special laser lens or all laser lenses are the same?
