Knock-off New Astro City for sale in Delaware, OH (about a 6 hour drive) for $500. Could rent a trailer for $120ish.

Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Mega Man Zero's design is top notch, even if it does get ridiculous at times.Gunstar Green wrote:It's hard but it's not broken. The games are fairly consistent quality-wise. The challenges are sometimes over-the-top (spikes... spikes everywhere) but I never really felt like it was because the design was bad or unpolished.Exhuminator wrote:How do you feel about the Zero series?Gunstar Green wrote:it's bad because it's a legitimately unfair game with bullcrap level design
Yeah, Zero's difficulty is a result of the dev team's fervor for crushing players' balls under their heel while X6's difficulty is a result of it being a horseshit rushed out cashgrab.I know I'm in the minority but I honestly didn't find the Zero series to be an unfair challenge. I guess the difference for me is the Zero series is difficult by design as opposed to being difficult because the game was rushed to market by an apathetic staff on a shoestring budget ala X6. It's failing because I'm not good enough versus failing because the game is poopy.
That's why I've only played through the game as Zero.Nemoide wrote:...I sincerely hope the rest of the game is easier than THIS ONE FRIGGIN JUMP. I DON'T CARE ANYMORE.)
They still suffer from Capcom's somewhat lackadaisical translation, but they're much better than X6's quarter-assed translation effort. And those would have to at least have better translations, right?

The jump at 2:10 in this video that they make look so easy. I know Shadow Armor could do it no problem but heard it makes the later part of the stage near-impossible especially without the Jumper. And I did miss the Jumper and am afraid the reploid with it might have died, I just know it was one of the ones in the North Pole Area - I'll have to double-check later and try it again with that part equipped if I can get it.Gunstar Green wrote:If I may ask, where is the jump you're stuck on? Because there is a specific jump where you pretty much cannot beat the game with X if you missed the Jumper part. Which you can miss if the reploid you need to rescue for it dies, and then it's gone forever. Shadow Armor X can make it through that part technically, but good luck beating the boss.
I'd *like* to just play as Zero for some of this but since I didn't unlock him until I was fairly far into the game, X is the one with all the health upgrades. The fact that X's upgrades end up nerfing Zero makes it seem like the developers didn't really want anyone to play as him.

I feel the same way. I beat all four on GBA back in 2006. They are challenging at times yes but if the player has any skill whatsoever they're totally manageable.Gunstar Green wrote:Ultimately I really love the Zero series

Yeeeep that's the one. Without the Jumper there's absolutely no way to do it other than Zero or the Shadow Armor. I know that's not helpful since at this point Zero is super weak and fighting the boss with the Shadow Armor is a complete nightmare. It's almost like they intended the level to be beaten with the Shadow Armor then decided to punish you for using it.Nemoide wrote:The jump at 2:10 in this video that they make look so easy. To make matters worse that reploid with Jumper is very missable and can die fairly easily. It is in the North Pole area on top of some spikes so you need the Shadow Armor to get it. Also don't you just love some of the random placement of the reploids? Just floating around in the air senselessly or standing on freaking spikes.
Honestly you are missing nothing at all if you just move on to the Zero games from here. The translation is barely English and even if it were the story of the X games post X5 have no effect on the plot of the Zero series.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I'm reading up on Metal Gear lore and I've always though it was the definition of convoluted story telling, but I wanted to learn about the games I hadn't played and try to piece it together for the new game. I'm encountering events that are ambiguous as far as what game they occurred in, whether they actually occurred in a game, and if not where the knowledge of this event came from. I'll read about what happened in a past game, but there will be a part just before or after that's not attributed to any particular installment.
Is there a well-annotated version of the story that doesn't leave anything unattributed?

Atlus and vanillaware are working in a new HD project...
I feel that is a HD remaster of odin sphere, or something along those lines.

Reeeeealllly shouldn't. Should just wait until I'm in my new house in another year or so and buy 2 matching candies then. But holy crap I'm tempted.
A legit should run you $650 and shipping - get a pair for $1,700 to your door. I'd save up and go that route.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah, that's going to be Odin Sphere. Huh. Not sure I'm really itching to play through again. I loved it, though.
I'd much rather see an English release of Princess Crown.
