I don't know, it just seems like it can be people's attitude, "Who cares about Pluto anymore? It's not a planet", kind of thinking. I have heard it before regarding this and many, many, many other topics.
It's an evolving categorization as we learn more. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure NASA is not solely responsible for these classification changes. There's a scientific cosmology committee somewhere saying what is and is not acceptable definitions.
Relatively quickly. Considering Pluto is billions of miles away, that ain't bad. Carl Sagan would be proud.
