It seems people are adapting well too - not only play 90% spells, but the minions you do have, should have +1 spell damage, or gain +1 attack for each spell played, etc.Blu wrote:This new Tavern Brawl is something else. Play a spell, get a minion of the same mana value. So cool, probably my favorite so far.

Re: Hearthstone thread
Yeah I am loving this new Tavern Brawl. I am sticking to a Priest and loading up on a lot of spells that heal and buff, that way I am getting extra benefits to my minions while summoning more. The minions I do have still focus on buffs for healing and having some minions that do bonuses to minion attack so I can overwhelm quickly. So far it has been very effective! It also helps that I have spells that replicate cards from the opponent so I have a plethora of options.

Re: Hearthstone thread
I think i've duped KalessinDB and Omerta into joining the glory that is Hearthstone.
Every day I get a new card that completely changes the game for me.
Finally got a Violet Teacher which really is valuable in all decks; but particularly my Paladin and Priest.
I also just got Blood Knight which I rarely see; but absolutely LOVE!
I have him in my Warrior deck. Playing a guy last night, he uses Enhanco Mechano on turn 5 - he has 4 minions on the field (voodoo, 2 low value murlocs, and a novice engineer) - 3 of them get Divine Shield and 1 gets windfury. I have out a Scarlet Crusader from my previous turn which he didn't attach.
I play my Blood Knight - +12/+12 from the 4 Divine Shields, play the coin, play a Charge card, give him +2 attack and charge, so now he's +17/+17 - hit boss. He's not able to silence or put up a taunt, game over next turn.
Obviously it doesn't work like that often - but pretty damn cool when it does. I put him in my Paladin decks too and combine w/my give a minion Divine Shield cards, not the perfect use, but a way to instantly make him a +9/+9 minion at essentiall 5 cost.

Yeah you did.mjmjr25 wrote:I think i've duped KalessinDB and Omerta into joining the glory that is Hearthstone.
Started today. Years of playing MtG got it stuck in my head that someone's gonna block my attacks so I end up making the games longer or miss out on opportunities to toss up some more damage.
I'm coming up against the pay-wall and can see why people would want to fork over cash for it. Luckily, I always suffer through freemiums and make it last longer on these types of games.
It's definitely fun though. I'd be willing to get smacked around by some RB pros.

Re: Hearthstone thread
You got me playing as well. This game is addicting and fun even when you lose. How do you add friends and where do you find the number at the end of your gamer ID?
Well I went 0-3 in the Arena with a Druid, not sure why I chose that class. I wasn't feeling the heart of the cards and I didn't have a Millennium item to help me out. Is the arena always this bad. I've been beating normal players pretty routinely but got whooped here. Any strategies to this?

Just wanna say I love the new Tavern Brawl game mode. It actually gives me a reason to log in and play a few matches every week. I got kind of burned out on the daily quests thing and I've already tried every fun gimmicky deck I could think of, so it's nice to have some weekly variety thrown in there. And you get a free pack for it as well.

@Jim - your # is at the top of your friends icon (lower left where it probably says "0" in yellow).
I'm mjmjr25#1970 of you want to add me
@Omerta - I haven't added you yet either as I need that 4 digit number, or just add me.
I really don't think you need to put money into the game - you earn enough gold to buy packs and you can sell cards (triplicates, or cards you'll never use) for dust and craft cards you want. As much as i've played it - I almost feel like I should put some money into it - but I haven't yet. I still only have (2) legendaries, but can compete with anyone above rank 14 or so. If I plan to go to rank 5-ish, then yeah, I could spend real money to buy packs, or just recognize that it's going to take a while - and i'm ok w/that. I'm having a blast.
@eco - this tavern brawl is great - it gives you so many new deck ideas and it really encourages players to try and get certain cards for their own decks. It also feels very "even" - we've all lost matches because we simply don't have the cards to compete. That isn't the case here - every match is even - the best player should win.
@everyone - Blackrock missions are amazingly fun. New heroes, hero powers, exclusive cards and such fun gimmicks. Keeping Moira alive and letting her attack you - it creates such a unique way to play. Loving it. I now have Grim Patron in my decks AND Thaurissian. Love love love this game.

Arena is great - it's sort of like this weeks tavern brawl in that you aren't limited by your own lack of cards. Good players should do well and bad players will do poorly.jmbarnes101 wrote:Well I went 0-3 in the Arena with a Druid, not sure why I chose that class. I love Arena - even playing field and chance at big prizes. I haven't gone recently as i'm saving up for the missions.
Are you beating normal computer players, normal casual players, or normal ranked players? Missions and tutorials are against the AI are generally easy to predict how they'll play.
AI on normal should be very easy.
Real but casual should be relatively easy / less intense. People trying out new strategies, people who might have to leave during the match, people just starting out and not ready for ranked.
Real ranked - it should never be easy as you constantly group with people playing as well as you. For example; I consistenly hover in the 17-19 range. Blu is in the 12-15 range, and dogman is in the 4-6 range.
