It's moving up nicely today. Already $9k over the $5 million mark, whereas not too long ago it seemed like $10k a day was a struggle. I think people seeing that there's "X HOURS to go" helps a lot.

As of this writing, Shenmue 3's kickstarter sits at $5,011,079. I predicted earlier in this thread that Shenmue 3 would beat the $5,545,991 pledged to Bloodstained. If that actually happens it's going to be a narrow win apparently. The Lake of the Lantern Bugs video that just went up is cool, but a video showing combat (even if its just a mock up) would have been a much better choice to push funding in the twilight hour. We've already got a video of Ryo and Shenhua wandering around somewhere pretty after all.

I recorded the interview portion of the NicoNico live broadcast. I haven't actually watched it yet, though. Not sure what to do with it. I wonder if it would be pulled down if I posted it to youtube.

I really think people are overestimating where Shenmue 3 is at in terms of development right now. YsNet doesn't even know what their actual budget will be yet. The combat system is in a state of rough conceptualizations. The battle system in Shenmue 1 and 2 relied on motion capture of a team of highly trained martial artists. There's no way they could showcase something with that level of character motion, and work involved (NPC models, animation, etc) after only a couple weeks. I'm sure we wouldn't be waiting until at least Dec. 2017 if they could. It needs to be viewed as if we were a board room: Suzuki is coming in with some sketches, the makings of a team, an idea for a budget and a proof of concept, and the backers get the chance to vote on its fitness for production. It's not going to be any further along than that during this kickstarter.

I guess I still don't understand what you're requesting of them. The battle system is likely in the initial planning stages, considering that Suzuki and Hirai are looking to take it in a new direction, and integrate aspects of it throughout the game's mechanics. Any 3d character modeling, beyond what's already been done with Ryo and Shenhua, with realistic combat animation is liable to either take more time than the kickstarter period would allow, or grossly misrepresent the final product. I'd imagine they spent a few weeks to a month on the original trailer footage, and look how that's perceived.

Thinking of going from $120 to $175. The $160 tier is a little nonsensical when you can pay $15 more and get the printed art book. What's $175 over two years right???

They could just make a nonsense video where Ryo is punching and round housing flaming lanterns and it would have been more exciting than having him standing there staring at them instead. That's what I'm trying to tell you.

As of this writing Shenmue 3's Kickstarter has earned $5,573,668, surpassing Bloodstained's $5,545,991. Looks my prediction came true! Ha ha and they said I was crazy pouring chicken blood over my dark crystal ball.

Anyway, there's still 12 hours to go.

Didn't Bloodstained also raise a few million from Paypal pledges? Surprised Yu hasn't done that yet, maybe he is waiting until the KS campaign is over.
