I don't think Konami is being childish. But I do think they're being crass.
I think they're disassociating Kojima from Metal Gear as soon as they have an opportunity.
It reduces some of the adjustment shock a sequel will have without his involvement.
I don't even think Konami sees the value in game production any more outside of Metal Gear, since it still makes them a large profit margin. It looks like they're more concerned with being some kind of intellectual property management firm or something. Why else would you consume other companies just to cancel all their finished projects?

I don't think Konami is removing Kojima's name from MGSV I think Kojima wants his name off. Think about it removing Kojima's name is going to be very bad for sales, there is a lot of brand recognition with the Kojima Productions name. I think what happened was Kojima had a vision for MGSV but Konami wanted to make it more mainstream appealing, more like GTA and Assassins creed. I feel like they wanted him to make a bunch of changes to his game, therefor ruining the vision of his game. He probably had some arguments over the direction the game was going and his lack of control over it and ended up just quitting. And then demanded that his name be removed from the game as it was not the game he wanted it to be and not worthy of the Kojima Propoductions name.

Re: Kojima quits?
I've heard the argument that removing Kojima's name is bad for sales, but I don't think that's the case.
I don't think there's a large group of people who walk into a store see a Metal Gear game and go "oh shit! Hideo Kojima!" because it says it on the box and rush over it and buy it as a result. That is to say there's likely more "Metal Gear Solid" brand fans, than "Hideo Kojima Productions" brand fans. By a lot.
The only danger in this regard with removing his name is if it causes already aware people to lose faith in the final game. I don't think that's happening, though. They built up plenty of momentum.
I don't think this game is going to be particularly altered at all, and recent media showings show the same game we're already anticipating to come out. We'll see if there's anything in the game that seems bizarre for these titles once it's released, but I honestly think it's just a capitalization on the release for moving forward.

Re: Kojima quits?
I falsely read the title as Kojima Quilts.
I'd buy one of his quilts.

Re: Kojima quits?
Kojima's formed a new studio, and has partnered with Sony. So glad to hear this. I was afraid he'd become another one of those former Japanese game designers who fades away into obscurity, or only makes indie-tier kickstarter-funded games that no one plays.

It's insanely awesome that he gets to keep the studio name. It already has tons of weight behind it.BoringSupreez wrote:Kojima's formed a new studio, and has partnered with Sony. This is crazy that it happened overnight. Kudos to Kojima for having the patience to put up with sheer hell and bullshit for an entire year at FucKonami. Obviously if he slept with the CEO's wife or daughter or did something terrible, we probably would have heard Konami's story by now. But an entire year went by and all they did was act like a petty child.
And you have to hand it to Kojima, 30 years keeping that company afloat and they do that, what if he just said F this and left the business? I can't imagine how much of a grueling and suffocating experience that was to be treated that way. I'm so glad he's instantly jumping ship and already onto new ventures.
Phew man, Konami fucked up. Good riddance.
Sony seems like a perfect partnership. Silent Hill is such an ambiguous serious, it would be very easy for him to jump back into that kind of horror and do their own thing with. That's definitely what I want next!
Love his new look too. The new age has begun!

That's what I want too. PT looked like a fantastic game. It would be great if Kojima would change it just enough to not violate copyrights or anything like that, and complete the game after all.Xeogred wrote: Sony seems like a perfect partnership.
