I'm afraid Francis Tresham will die without anyone interviewing him and he's one of the most important figures in gaming. He's close to 80 years old, if I recall correctly and completely unknown, there's virtually no info on him and he doesn't even have an email address, it's snail mail or nothing.
Consider that he's the man who invented the tech tree with Civilization (1980) and that's one of the least important parts of his legacy. Basically, half of the things that are attributed to Sid Meier were actually his.
I wonder if I should write up a letter to him and ask him some questions. I'm afraid he might not answer or find the questions bothersome
It really wouldn't hurt to ask. A lot of creators are more eager to discuss their work than you'd imagine. They're just people like the rest of us.
I read about it yesterday but i didn't come home until now. I cuadruple checked the facebook las night checking all the news sites to make sure it was real.
It really a shame, at 55 he was still really young and i though he was gettin better with his health guess he only said that to calm down the people.
Really going to miss him on the directs and other events, glad he managed to live his dream job and to be in charge in the company he loved.
R.I.P Satoru Iwata.

One day after Iwata's death, a rainbow appeared over Nintendo's headquarters in Kyoto and was dubbed as the " Rainbow Road to heaven", a reference to a stage in Mario Kart.
Ok now that's truly sad. I mean I was surprised by the whole death as most would be since how bad his illness was was kept in tight circles. Now I actually feel sad about things more than just the shock of it reading that.
I don't recall his resume exactly as far as games go, but I think Balloon Fight was his baby entirely and his earliest on the NES/Famicom -- perhaps all should take a fun balloon trip to remember by?

That Chief video and the Itoi article were absolutely touching. Still quite very sad to hear of his passing, but he lived such a full life and inspired and touched so many people. So humble, full of life, and a pleasant and good human being loved by all those around him. I can only imagine how those are feeling who were truly close to him and how he made them feel. That's who I really feel for these past few days.
I've finally come to grips with this enough to say only the following.
Thank you Mr. Iwata, for everything. May your new home be as enjoyable for you as your last one and may you touch as many people there as you did here.
