The DS library to me, much like the Wii library, is actually incredibly intimidating.
There's just so much stuff I don't how to actually begin chewing through that library! Especially the RPGs.
So I guess I'll begin with something I know. Anybody else care for Yoshi's Touch n Go? I always liked it, despite how simple it is.

Older. Not wiser.

I thought Yoshi's Touch n Go was fairly poor. I bought it and regretted it. You're right both the libraries between the Wii and DS are intimidating due to the total amount of games to choose from, but only the DS would further be so because of the high amount of quality releases that should be played.

All you have to do is ask. Say what genres you're interested in, and myself and others will make recommendations for you. You probably already know the typical top tier Wii games that Nintendo made first party and all that. So we could help you with the slightly lesser known releases.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:The DS library to me, much like the Wii library, is actually incredibly intimidating.
I can't agree with this statement. The Wii had just as much great stuff. The only thing the DS really trumps the Wii hard on are JRPGs and SRPGs. (But that was true of the last generation anyway, in that handhelds received the bulk of JRPGs/SRPGs.) But the Wii trumps the DS on other genres (action adventure for example). Both have fantastic and extensive libraries with unique strengths and weaknesses.Tanooki wrote:only the DS would further be so because of the high amount of quality releases that should be played.

Is Yoshi's Island DS recommended for fans of the original? I mean it looks exactly LIKE it.

Ehh take 1st party games out of the equation on the Wii, and it doesn't have a long line-up of system specific titles that make it special while the DS does. That's why I said it. I'm not disputing the Wii had some awesome 1st party titles which is why I kept it for so long as they were good.

Just picked up Monster Rancher Explorer(GBC) off Amazon for $4.28 shipped. Amazon Warehouse seems to have some awesome deals creep up for the GB-DS pretty often.

Just won these games off Ebay, not a bad price for all 3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gameboy-Color-G ... true&rt=nc

I just finished this last week (after owning it for ten years >_>)ExedExes wrote:Is Yoshi's Island DS recommended for fans of the original? I mean it looks exactly LIKE it.
It's just OK. I'm a huge Yoshi's Island SNES fan and I felt rather disappointed by it.
It's not a bad game, but don't pay a lot, and only play it if you're REALLY hurting for some new Yoshi style gameplay. Wooly World is coming out really soon and apparently it's easily the best Yoshi game since Yoshi's Island on SNES, so maybe wait?
I can tell you that Yoshi's New Island on 3DS is definitely better.
Yoshi's Island DS also changes a lot of the sound effects and as a fan of the original that actually bothered me a lot when it initially came out. It looks similar, but it feels like something is off. Also the game can be extremely unfair.
@RyaNtheSlayA Like any library you aren't familiar with, you start at the greatest hits!
Take a look at some people's must have lists and see what's obtainable there that you think you'll like. It's not a race to finish a collection, just take it at your own pace.

If you mean there aren't a significant amount of good games that weren't developed directly by Nintendo, then I still do not agree with you. However, if you take away games that Nintendo published but did not directly develop, then the pickings get a little slimmer. But even then, there's quite a few non-Nintendo developed, non-Nintendo published games on the Wii that are very very good indeed. It's all subjective though so you're entitled to believe otherwise.Tanooki wrote:Ehh take 1st party games out of the equation on the Wii, and it doesn't have a long line-up of system specific titles that make it special while the DS does.

I do, that's exactly what I mean. There are third party games, but I found that some of the best franchises of that generation never went to Wii or ended up being mutilated halfassed rail shooters like Dragon Quest and Dead Space were which was just insulting. There are a few though, I mean Fragile was nice to name one.
Anyway, good buys there both of you. That's a nice one in that Monster Rancher game, I remember buying that back in the day as a random pick up as it looked interesting and while pokemon like, it wasn't, so I was curious. Another good one sorta similar but not, Azure Dreams, very fun. And that 3 pack with Crystalis for $20 was a nice grab, I saw that, but didn't want the other two games.
I snapped up Dragon Warrior 1+2 for GBC yesterday with the poster and manual for $15, nice companion to the $25 I put on Dragon Warrior 3 which arrived here the other day.
Love to just kill the goon who decided it was a good idea to close a bunch of mail processing centers this year to save money instead of doing something about their crappy retirement plans being forced on the USPS bankrupting them. I've never in all my years have had more packages get delayed or temporarily missing ever. I finally did get the 6 day delayed item from 90min away in Cincinnati, but currently I've got multiple things just gone.
-- Kirby Block Ball went out the 9th, last scanned the 10th as still in Florida.
-- Blaster Master GBC+2 out the 8th in TX, left TX 4 days later(traveled like 1 county over)
-- Metal Gear GBC went out the 10th PRIORITY MAIL 2 DAY went from Manchester CT to Springfield MA in those 2 days, still NOT HERE.
EDIT: By the way, smart move on Amazon Warehouse, I totally forgot that existed. It's so huge though, kind of have to shop by game name or you'll be at it all day skimming, even by doing a gameboy system search alone.
