Knightfall is OK, but the first artist kept making Bruce look sad. Sad Batman is pathetic in a bad way. I do kinda want to know more about the origins of Bane now, though. Battle for the Cowl is actually pretty good. I like the extended Bat-family, better even than Batman.

Revival and Red Hulk are up next.
Scott Snyder's first Batman story takes place after the Battle for the Cowl and is probably my favorite story in a long time, even though Batman is not Bruce. (I love the character who is wearing the cowl in this story). Snyder does a great job modifying the character of Batman to the personality of the man under the mask. Snyder also does a great job creating an enemy that is the opposite of this Batman as the Joker is of Bruce; instead of carefree and able to go with the flow this foe is quite dark, precise and calculated.

Lemme guess, is it Jason Todd again?

Anyway, I may have to add this to my library request queue.

No
Dick Grayson - Nightwing
I'm not joking, this one is dark and well written... too bad most of Snyder's stuff since then has been dark. This was the first one and was quite creepily refreshing.

Just gonna say that I LOVE SearchOhio. I have read so darned many GNs in recent years because of having this access.

We should have an NEO Nerd-Out some time. Or meet at the 8-bit bar on the west side of Cleveland.

 Wow I read a little bit of Spawn no 5 and yeah...a little disgusted and intrigued at the same time especially with that Billy Kincaid....just why would you do something like that to a kid  half tempted to read more but I don't know that's just one of the strangest things I think I may've read so far in a comic...

Sorry for the double post but has anyone read that new archie comic? I'm still a little torn over what to think about it...I think i'm used to the comic digest which seems to be more humorous than this so it's kinda odd to me reading something a little more story based when it comes to Archie..... Finally made it to the last story in Detective Comic #38(man wish they would post more of these digitally on comixology, they're interesting to say the least with the other non batman stories thrown in...)

I thought the new Archie was pretty decent. Fiona Staples' art is great and I appreciate trying to take the character in a new direction that will appeal more to actual teenagers. I'm more inclined to read multiple issues of it to see what kind of direction it goes in than I would be with "traditional" Archie stylings. It didn't blow me out of the water or anything, but for an Archie comic I thought it definitely stood out in a good way.

But really I'm more excited for the Jughead series advertised at the end of the book! Writing by Chip Zdarsky (Sex Criminals, Howard the Duck) and art by Erica Henderson (Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) - that's a creative team I can 100% support!

I'm still not used to hearing all these names which is strange(I could tell you a whole list authors of books I like but comic books even with what i've read that's a little strange with all these different authors on the same series....I think i'll give the next issues a try but it's still strange compared to the more comedic short stories I was used to. Was interesting though to buy 20 comics for $30 though(since I got Archie #1, and a whole slew of batman(detective) and superman(action) comics, that should be a month's worth of readin especially with the side stories if the others have some of these characters I've never heard of before...

A friend of mine shoved a copy of Watchmen in my direction the other day so I've been reading it. It's quite great, practically every panel is worth staring for a long time and the story is quite gripping. I'm really tempted to read a bit of analysis about it, because some of the parts (News Stand man scenes, meta commentary) go a bit over my head but I can't risk spoiling myself.

But yeah, liking it a fair bit so far.

Yes, the news stand scene is very meta.

Watchmen is the kind of story you need to go back and re-read a few times.
