Tokyo Bus Guide

Post by Incognito D »

Finally got my hands on this bizarre game and it's a lot of fun.

Even though it's Japanese-only it's not very hard to understand as a lot of stuff such as menu screens are in English.

It's also not as hard as a lot of people made out, once you get used to the rules of the road.

Anyone else played or interested in this game?

Also, it has come to my attention that there is also a train simulator game for Dreamcast (Densha De Go). I'm thinking of giving this a try as well, but does anyone know if you can play it with the normal control?

Super Karate Monkey Bus Guide

Post by uzisuicide »

One of my friends is a savant Bus Guide. That guy can't play any other game for beans, but when it comes to Tokyo Bus Guide he's goddamn Rainman. It's sort of hypnotic to watch the bus slowly but steadily wind its way up that spiralling superhighway. I wish I could figure out the complex traffic laws of Japan.

I like the dreamcast game a lot, but the arcade game is the true experience. :)

Great game! It can be sort of frustrating sometimes when you don't understand a certain road rule though. I wish there was an english version, but it's still a lot of fun!

Bits like that can be a bit boring I find. Driving in a straight line for ages with no need to stop or anything. There's a tunnel on the countryside level which is pretty bad because it's long and straight and you can only go 30! :x

and the arcade cabinet looks like fun, but I think it's a bit out of my budget

Densha De Go is awesome if its your cup of tea.i found a full colour guide for it to help with controls and also to help you tell what all the on screen symbols mean. The game can be played with a standard pad fine but really the proper controller would enhance your gaming.

could someone PM where they got there copy of tokyo bus guide all the ones ive tried mess up.
cheers

I haven't played that much of it yet, but I really enjoy Tokyo Bus Guide too. The sensitivitry of the triggers are really put to the test to keep your speed just under the speed limit, it's quite engrossing and sucks you in with deep concentration to get it right, yet is also quite relaxing.

Finally got a working copy of this game and OMFG its so much fun.i find it easier than densha de go as you can see more clearly where your going.my copy seems to hang on free run but the story and practice etc work ace.Ive downloaded the vmu game to increase your xp level but the battery died in my vmu i think before i could try it.
does anyone know if theres a guide for it to help with on screen prompts and controls?i thought i would have a horn?

If you like these sim games there's a budget PC title called Euro Truck Simulator. It does lack the "charm" of Japanese driving sims though.
