FINALLY got my GAMEROOM PICS UP!

Post by mcampellone »

Hey there, Guys!

I \finally had a chance to get the pics of my gameroom up on the net. Here they are:

This first shot is coming into my gameroom, showing my two ergonomic seats - SO comfortable, especially for long game sessions!.....if you look throuhgout the pics, you can also see stuff like my surround sound Bose Acoustimass speakers - makes those games ROAR.....

This next photo show a full view of the entertainment center where the systems I play MOST often are permanently set-up:

This photo is a close-up of the LEFT tier of the entertainment center:

And here is the RIGHT tier of the entertainment center:

Also, as I said before in earlier posts, the MAJORITY of my collection is in storage bins in the main closet off the game room. Here are some pics of just a FRACTION of the games/systems in storage:

Thing on top og N64...

Post by mcampellone »

Hey Guys -

THAT little gem is my Z64 "Mr. Backup". It plugs into the top of the N64 and emulates a game cartridge. Then, in the side of it is an Iomega ZIP disk drive. I have pretty much every N64 game image ever released as a huge compilation on compact discs. When I want to play a title or two, I just put a Zip Disk into my computer (on top of the tv), and I copy over a few of the N64 images from the CD-Rom onto the zip disk (each ZIP will hold a few games), and then insert the Zip Disk into the Z64. Then, when I turn on the N64, it "sees" a game cartridge - and I am greeted with a selection menu in the LED screen on top of the Z64 unit. Just pick the game you want to play and go! :)

*IF* I ever come across a game that I already don't have in my collection (I pretty much have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds), all I do is plug-in the cartridge on top of the Z64 unit, insert a blank ZIP disk, and I "backup" the cartridge onto the disk (hence the name Z64- Mr. Backup)... it is the coolest device :)

It is probably one of the coolest devices I have - and I really love it... they are IMPOSSIBLE to find now...

Have a great day!

Cool, so it's a substitute for a true N64 flash cart; which is something I've never seen. It works flawlessly? No technical downsides? Considering how N64 emulation still sucks dogs, that is one hot device you got there.

Flawless! :)

Post by mcampellone »

Absolutely! This thing works totally flawlessly - all games work, never had a problem! I am so thrilled to have it. I even have a lot of the Euro and Japan-only games, like some crazy Pachinko titles - they are a hoot!

Have a great night!

The Z-64 Mr. Backup fpr N64

Post by mcampellone »

Wow -

I have had this thing forever! Back when n64 was at the height of its popularity, I got my Z64 from Yahoo Auctions, because eBay was already cracking down on them and stopping all sales of them. Nintendo went ballistic and almost destroyed the company making them (being made from overseas and imported). I also got my compilation discs on Yahoo Auctions. I think I paid around $150 for about 1000 or so games. A pretty good bargain, right? LOL...

Back then, I believe I paid around $450 for my Z64. If you do a google search for Z64 Mr. Backup, they still have an old website up that has bios revisions on it and stuff for existing customers, but the BIG N put a stop to the production and they are highly illegal.

The nice thing is that, as the ZIP drive wears out over the years I can easily and readily just pop a new one into the unit! THis thing is built VERY sturdy!

If anything, I am just so glad to have mine as an odd piece of gaming history in my collection! :) But the games are cool too LOL....

My girlfriend's son FELL IN LOVE with my Z64 and wanted one for this Christmas. I thought I would have been able to find him one, but it proved to be impossible. I even posted offers on all types of collector websites for TOP dollar, and no one would sell theirs. Oh well.... The kid is NOT getting mine! LOL....LOL

Please have a TERRIFIC NIGHT, guys! :)

Great story!
When you get a chance, do you think you could post some pictures?
(Maybe with a solid white background?)
I'd love to write up an informational post about the device.
