I always thought this was very scary. And it's out of date too, now it's even worse.

It sucks because I'm way out of shape and I hate it. I don't do any excercise. In fact, I have gone only two or three times in the last few weeks which is beyond awful. As you might know, I've wanted to buy a bike for a year now but I haven't been able to buy it own my own because I don't have a job or anything.
I hope that once I get it, I'll be able to slim down a bit because it makes me feel bad to be out of shape like this. I should rent a bike and go to a very distant library just to do some excercise.

Forget the bike for now. Just do 20 pushups and walk 2 miles a day, six days a week, for three months. That's a great start, and you'll be losing pounds left and right for the first few weeks. You can ramp things up more after that.Erik_Twice wrote:I hope that once I get it, I'll be able to slim down a bit because it makes me feel bad to be out of shape like this.

So I went out and dropped off a few packages and the problems are back speedometer jumped around(Mainly whenever I went over 40 and it went into second gear), the battery gauge also went to the left a bit and rested at the first dot a couple of times setting off the check gauges light before getting back to normal. Finally got a check engine code that I could read as well.

Still sounds like the most likely culprit is a bad connection somewhere. Really need to get under my dash and check it out whenever the rain stops and I can pull my passenger seat out.

Here's the thing, though, it really isn't any different. You have some aspect of your life that's important to you and you're trying to convince someone else to make it important to them, whether they want to or not.Luke wrote:Popo, I side with Ex that "Thou soul be damned" is a lot different than "Thou arteries will be clogged".
Not dismissing your point, but I'm not trying to give my friends eternal salvation, rather trying to get them to play a round of putt putt without passing out.
And that's great. More power to you. It's fantastic we live in a society where we have enough free time to be able to pursue or not pursue what we see as leisure.I like being active. To me that's relaxing. Even if it is bowling, to me it beats sitting on the couch and dare I say it...playing video games.

Yeah, it's an easy start. Hell, I did one of those 30 day challenges back in December. I relaxed a bit afterward and changed things up a bit to keep from getting bored, but I used it to kickstart a regular routine. Make exercise part of your routine, and it will become second nature, even if you only start small.Exhuminator wrote:Forget the bike for now. I don't think that 20 push-ups and walking 2 miles would do anything to me, if simply because I do far more than that just commuting
Still, I do need to get out of the house. It's not like I can actually study 16 hours a day.

I looked this up, came on this:Fragems wrote:P1391 Jeep - CMP or CKP Signal Intermittent Condition

That error seems to indicate a camshaft position sensor issue. Which may be a problem your jeep has. But I don't think it has to do with all the electrical component weirdness you're describing however. Just my personal experience with this kinda crap.
Well the technical difference is on one hand you're asking someone to care about the life they have now, and on the other you're asking them to care about the life they might have after this one is over. Fundamentally different things technically speaking. At the same time, I can see your point about different things being important to different people. Like foam nunchuks are really important to some people.MrPopo wrote:Here's the thing, though, it really isn't any different. Here's my thing. You should never assume you know someone's story. Everybody wants to differentiate between people who can't help being overweight and those who don't give a shit. Ok, I buy that...I mean it still boils down to personal choice like Popo said, but you're entitled to your opinion. When it comes to friends and loved ones you might even have the information necessary to differentiate between the two. When it comes to strangers you do not. So, looking at overweight people and assuming they must be lazy or have no willpower is a pretty shitty thing to do. Much like judging homeless people based on their current situation without knowing the story which landed them there.
Was tank top lady a hero? Not in my opinion. It could be that she has tried really hard to lose weight though and a medical issue or something else is getting in the way of it. Sure, kids are mean sometimes and it was blown out of proportion, but if in the end it let that lady feel a little better about herself then who cares?
I live a healthy lifestyle, I would advise the same to someone who asks. I don't impose my choices on others around me as long as their choices don't directly affect my experience. That's just my opinion though.

Because you choose to deny or "not perceive" something does not make it imperceptible or imagination. There is more tangible evidence of your creator than in any number of obesity studies.Exhuminator wrote:Except religious people are basing their fears on imperceptible matters of imagination. Whereas someone getting upset over a friend becoming obese is a fear based on tangible evidence (i.e. increased fat) and scientifically proven outcome (i.e. shorter lifespan).

It has nothing to do with trying to convince someone to do something, it's that I keep on providing fun opportunities for them to DO something.
This is one reason I hold a lot of themed parties. Love giving people the option of doing stuff other than sitting around. Sitting around can be terrible (being a dude at a bridal shower) and it can be fun (being a dude getting a lap dance) but trying to get people to be active isn't really trying to convince them of anything.
