Are you going to do the story mode in MK 2011? The story mode takes a long time to get through. And the final, final boss of said story mode is damnnnned unfair. It doesn't help that you don't get to choose who you fight that boss with either.

Yes.
I'm at Shao Kahn, and I knew I'd have to use Raiden. Most of SK's moves are completely unblockable, and even a rabbit punch from the guy takes about a quarter of your energy away. After a few gos at him I had to put the controller down and step away.

There has to be a strategy to defeat him, right? Not just dumb luck?

With the Goro types, I quickly learned "jump over them, high kick, repeat". With SK, nothing seems to work.

But I have loved the story mode. It's very well done while also masquerading the violence with goofiness. The storyline itself makes zero sense, which in my eyes is perfect for the series. The plot should be silly, fun, and full of holes.

Mortal Kombat is under twenty bucks at Game Stop, and probably cheaper online. I'd highly suggest picking it up if you are a fan of the series. I haven't even played two player mode yet, and although I've only played the story mode it's been a blast.

You have to use cheesy tactics to beat him. Teleport and immediately uppercut worked well for me if I recall correctly.

Yeah I spent about 30 minutes fighting the final boss of story mode. I was reaching the point of utter rage, considering how completely unfair and disingenuous the boss's power is. I did the same thing you did. I put the controller down and figured there must be a trick to it. However, I never bothered to find out what that trick was, and forgot about the game's story mode after that. I love the arcade mode and 2 player versus however, and I still play those from time to time.

The trick is to hope the AI's slight randomization rolls in your favor while you engage in the cheese.

Tried MK II & III on MAT 2 just now. I already knew how hard MK II was, and it seems once you get to the 5th or 6th opponent, you CANNOT win. Go too far, you get a projectile. Go too close, they're ready for you there too.

III was a bit easier. Except Centaur-Goro gave me the fits, and I did manage a few round wins by jump kicking.

I was able to try a few more fatalities. Kitana's fan de-cap and Stryker's distant electrocution. I think I do better with button press fatalities instead of 5 directions at once.

I am so happy the industry went with Street Fighter style inputs vs. MK style inputs. I always feel like it's a toss up whether or not I'll actually get the inputs I need to pull off an MK special move and it just doesn't flow like SF does.
