Konami Gradius > Treasure Gradius
Gradius V is an awesome game, there's absolutely no doubt about that. It's genius seeps out of every pixel. Konami knew exactly what they were doing when they handed the development to Treasure. But........
No matter how much i love it, i still think that the Konami programmed Gradius' are slightly better, with Gaiden being the best of the bunch.
I cant quite put my finger on why i prefer Konami's take on the series, they just seem to put more of a smile on my face while i'm playing them and that's the most important thing, right?

You know it's likely some Treasure staff were involved with the early Gradius games, before Treasure became a distinct company.

There's a bunch of people out there that agree with you. Gradius V has more of a Treasure feel to it and just happens to be Gradius. It's still a great game, but it is kinda an oddball in the Gradius series. And I agree that Gaiden is the best, it's a shame there was never a US release, it'd make it much more affordable for me to own a legit copy of it.

You can play it domestically on the PSP's Gradius collection.t0yrobo wrote:There's a bunch of people out there that agree with you. And Konami re-released it as a budget "PSone Books" title in Japan, if you don't care about original releases.

To answer your questions Gradius V did get a PAL release in Europe. Not sure if any where shipped to Australia, although I have seen it ocassionally on eBay Aus. Rebirth is yet to see a western release.

Re: Konami Gradius > Treasure Gradius
Gradius V is a really great game (albeit a little too long), but I think I like the original Konami entries better (aside from Gradius IV).
Although, I will never love them as much as I do Life Force.
