Fair question and the fair answer is I just don't care for how they were designed. Flagship(Capcom) captured the basic feel, look and sounds, but when it came to the dungeon designs and pathing to the game I really dislike it.
I can understand that answer. I think I might just be nostalgia blinded by these two. I got them the same day and I knew how much I loved links awakening. They reminded me so much of that game just with some sexy color on top. Plus I thought the password system to unlock new endings and items was amazing. But the design doesn't hold up as well Links Awakening or Minish Cap I agree.

My opinion of the GBC Zeldas:

Oracle Of Ages > Link's Awakening > Oracle Of Seasons

Mainly because Ages had puzzles that actually required exciting neurons to solve once in a while, unlike the other two.

The puzzles are a lot tougher in that one. I had read somewhere that they wanted one puzzle oriented and the other action oriented. I think the strange story in awakening is better than the others though.

That is indeed the case. I still like LA the best, but Ages was the Oracle I thought was better. I liked the orientation towards puzzles.

Yeah that's really how they went, one focused on the action end of zelda and the other more puzzles and thinking. Not grossly by any means but it was more obvious.

I have no nostalgia for them, I couldn't like them then, and even trying now I don't dislike them but I just can't get into it still with the one I have so I'll do that trade whenever that dude gets his butt in gear about the swap. Before too long I'll just ebay it as it's not life or death if I get advance wars and duck tales gb.

I was surprised already G&W Gallery 2 showed up today this afternoon, and supposedly a few more should be here tomorrow with the remaining hopefully looking at Friday before the holiday which is nice. The whole lot I picked out are good, but I'm looking forward to the Wendy game since it's new new to me, not a new to have back once again game.

What sucks about Retro Game Challenge, is the original hit the sales mark they claimed it needed to for them to bring over Game Center CX 2 ... but they still didn't do it.

I wish I knew more about the DS cart structure so I could make some Repos of translated DS games. I'm not a huge fan of flash carts, they're great for seeing if something works or at a convention or doing a tournament or something, but for personal use I don't like it.

What's the best way to clean DS games? My recent pickups from the flea market are still kinda filthy. Due to the plastic ridges in between the contacts, the eraser method isn't going to work. I swabbed/alcohol-ed them as best as I could, but even that's a bit tricky. Would an alcohol soaked paper towel/toothpick combination be a little more effective? I hate having to repeatedly re-insert dirty games that don't get read right the first time.

Today I ended up just using a tooth brush and gently brushing the contacts on a DS cart after swabbing it with a little alcohol seemed to work very well. In the past I have used a toothpick/thin rag combo but it doesn't clean as well unless you do a couple pass overs and takes a lot more time.

They are also great for playing through fan translated ROMs.

Flip the cartridge over, lightly moisten a q-tip in rubbing alcohol, and scrub up and down each contact. Then take a non moistened q-tip and scrub the contacts again to remove any leftover alcohol (yes it will dry on its own but I'm neurotic). Lastly use an air blaster like this to blow away any remnants of cotton the q-tip left behind. That's how I do it.
