Again I'll reiterate absolutely no input lag with my Retron 5 on the HDTV I'm using, with the standard SNES pad.

I've heard some shmup fans complain of input lag but I really don't notice any myself.

They did take it a bit far having him as the extra last fighter on his own there at the end. He's like an unlockable before those things existed where it's plausible to win but it'll screw with you a lot.

At first I thought this might be the case, though I used to be able to beat Tyson in my sleep (if not by TKO then by decision, just have to score over 5000 pts), but I've tried it on emulators on a computer since and had a lot less issues with him. I still find the only game I really FEEL it on is Mario World, which probably just has to do with how much and how recently I've played that game compared to older NES games. Punch-Out!! I just find myself doing worse, but it doesn't really feel any different to me. I'm SO familiar with how Mario World feels on a CRT that it's almost second nature. As I said, my sincere hope is that buying a TV with a faster response rate will make Tyson beatable and Mario feel less awkward to me. Just about everything else I play feels great.

Hey guys,

My retron 5 was affected by the death grip issue, SNES slot blew up.
Can I just replace the slot with one from an original SNES?

I can't use the RMA, warranty is over and I live in Brazil :(

No I don't think you can they're soldered to the board both R5 and SNES, but try if you want.

Solder iron is not a problem for me, the problem is the slot size.

Sadly, I think is not possible replace by one from the original SNES. I saw in a youtube video the slot from original SNES is a bit taller compared to the Reron 5.

Well... I guess I'm screwed anyway

How about a SNES game genie? You can keep the switch turned off, and simply use the Game Genie as a cart slot extender... I think. This may or may not work. It's worth a try.

Anyone with a newer model noticing it still grips some NES games really tight? Had a couple so far that really didn't want to let go after being inserted.

I was thinking about in a SNES2SUPER FAMI adapter, but I can't use right now, since the SNES slot of my Retron 5 is already wrecked, so no game is detected

Man... I really love the Retron 5, but the death grip issue is huge deal breaker.

I don't have the new model, but I've seen a lot of people complaining of the death grip in NES slot on the older models, but mine Retron 5 has no death grip on NES lot, so I think this issue is kinda random, maybe quality check issue?
