I know Popo, JM and Sarge beat it. But everyone else should jump on it!
It's fun to watch you talk to yourself.

Oh yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the expansion

yeah I'm impressed that an expansion was announced so soon. And I'm excited about the upcoming AI patch.

Anyway, I'm really glad I jumped on this game. Sometimes I find that longer games and RPG's in general I can shy away from and instead opt for shorter new releases. It's part of why I think I kept Divinity Original Sin on my want list for all of 2014 instead of actually playing it. But Pillars is quickly moving its way up my list of best 2015 games already.

On the topic of the game itself, what did y'all think of the "no XP for killing stuff" thing? It's an interesting approach for sure. Though it does sort of go against my RPG instincts. I tend to love battling, yet don't do a whole lot of extracurricular exploring. I'm catching myself killing stuff in this game and thinking "damn that would have leveled me up in any other RPG." Though I guess this system does encourage opening up more of the map than I might.

It's really easy to lose hours in this game though. I played like 3 hrs last night and never left the town of Brackenbury that whole time.

Well, you do get experience for killing enemies, but only a fixed amount total. You might have noticed after running into a new enemy that it says you get 47/400 exp. Essentially they model it that killing enough of a particular enemy gives you knowledge about them, but once you've learned all you learn killing more doesn't help you.

ooooh, I didn't realize that. So it's basically that you do earn XP from killing enemies, but there's a cap per enemy? Got it. That's a bit more interesting then.

16 hrs in. Finished up the Sanitarium, then I went off looking to hunt an ogre. Found his cave and made a deal he couldn't refuse. I also managed to recruit a new NPC - the grieving mother. I'm actually at a part now where I'm not 100% sure how to advance the main story quests. The only one I've got active says "tell Lady Webb that you can't get into the hearings," but when I go talk to her there's no dialogue choice to tell her such a thing. I've tried getting into the hearings, and obviously I can't.

What were you missing?

Also, now that you have access to every NPC, who do you run in your party?

I hadn't had one of the three factions back me for going to the election. I didn't realize it because although you need that to advance the main story, it's not a main quest. If that makes sense.

I do? Huh. Right now my party has my main character of course (Lyna) plus Aloth, Grieving Mother (why didn't they give her a name?), Sagani, Kana and a priestess recruit that I made (Elizabeth).

Back at the Strong I have another self-made recruit who is bear rangler.
