I don't know man. Gamecube has a great top 10 over the Wii and way over the Wii U. And the reason why is purely nastalgia.
But in any event...
I want to switch gears for a moment. So I have both Call of Duty games for the U. It has an option on the multiplayer portion called System Link. Is it similar to the Xbox system link? I know that the Xbox 360 you have an option for wired and wireless. Wii U is only wireless. Has anyone used it?

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
wow, the search results for ZeroAX just trippled from this thread
anyway it's decided, I'm buying a used on with games, because A) they are very cheap in the Netherlands, B) Including VC releases that I WANT to replay on the wii u gamepad, we're getting closer to like 30 games I want, C) I don't own a TV, so a Wii U is a perfect solution for half the games I want on it xD

See now that's something to definitely consider, if you don't have a TV the WiiU is pretty much your only option, and the bar on the front of the controller has the IR needed to pick up the wii's controller pieces too. Couple those 2 with the VC and other stuff, it could keep one busy a fairly long time. Just be very careful what you buy, some games will not to off TV play so you'll end up stuck.

For my money, the top 10 on Wii beats Wii U and GC pretty easily. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, New SMB Wii, Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime 3 (and if we want to cheat, Trilogy), The Last Story, Smash (although I probably agree Melee is better), Xenoblade... just so much good stuff. And lots of hidden gems.
Not that the GC didn't have those, either. I think there's an argument that GC covered a little more breadth, I just don't think the tip-top games were quite as good. But then again, it's got Baten Kaitos and Tales of Symphonia, and also had Twilight Princess. I wasn't as big a Wind Waker fan (and it had nothing to do with the art style, I bought that puppy at launch), Mario Sunshine was a bit off, etc. But then again, there was a Star Fox and F-Zero... not that those greatly appealed to me, but I can see where some of those games would put the GC over the top for some.

I may or may not be a kid and/or a squid. Went ahead and ordered a replacement U and bought Splatoon.

For me the games on Game Cube that are special are the unique ones we haven't seen again on home consoles. Chibi-Robo, Mario Sunshine (Exploration focused, as opposed to Arcade focused like Galaxy and on), Four Swords Adventures, Jungle Beat! Some games I really enjoy. Also, Melee is fantastic.
Wii has a great list of games, but comparing system top tens is a little odd. (They're different and it's up to personal taste making it subjective.) Most of the companion titles that would be used for comparison on Wii U aren't out yet, but a lot are coming this year.

I agree about that. Gamecube was that last console Nintendo did that really did stand out from the crowd. I too really did enjoy the games you listed especially that version of Smash as it has felt downhill since though the latest is far nicer than the Wii one. Gamecube really did have some unique stuff you just had to play or somehow experience like those, but also for outside of Japan the first Animal Crossing, Cubivore, the last console F-Zero, Luigi's Mansion (still prefer it vastly to 2 on 3DS), and if you imported it (and used a freeloader like I did) Doshin the Giant there's just a lot of magic there that's lost now due to a shift in how games are done.
I have strong hopes for the new Chibi Robo, it appears to be a physical release, and not a gimped out game like the walmart only DS title was that (for me) got stale.
Also on topic more -- congrats to Splatoon, it cracked a million sold quite fast. That's like 1 in 10 sales given the hardware sold.

I agree with Sarge. The Wii trumps the GameCube handily.

Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I think Nintendo's titles are still stand outs in the realm of video games. There's still nothing else out there like their games. It's more evident now than it ever has been before when looking at the XBO, PS4, and Wii U.
At least this time around, people are actually enjoying Wii U. When GameCube was out, communities were some volatile ground if you liked that system.

Sadly, this is too true. If you were a Nintendo fan in the early 2000s, you were often ridiculed for your "Barney Lunchbox" or "Gaycube."
I still think the Q is the best looking piece of hardware ever:

Sexy beast.
Id love to have one modded out with a Gameboy player. But that is super price prohibitive.
