Amiibo!!
Re: Amiibo!!
Peeked at the stock at Frys the other day, I think they had some uncommon ones on the shelf, but since I have not been following the trends (like stated before, I am pissed off at the lack of availability of these stupid things) Off the top of my head I saw Mega Man, Wario, Pacman, Shiek, Toon Link... not sure if any of these are "rare" but I have never seen these at any other store.
My trade thread, updated 7/14

Re: Amiibo!!
Most of those can be found. I haven't seen a Wario, though.
Re: Amiibo!!
One of my local fred meyer stores has a wario right now but it seems like the place is less frequented by amiibo hunters. Local TRU had the silver marios sold out but a local best buy has tons. Very odd how some of these people hunt.Cronozilla wrote:Most of those can be found. I haven't seen a Wario, though.
I'm still trying to find these people who don't have a Sonic, Mario, and Luigi to trade.Cronozilla wrote:Not necessarily, I see a lot of people trading a Wii Fit trainer for like a Pit and MetaKnight combo.
Trades don't seem to usually be one for one.

Tell me your secret Oregonian locations!
Re: Amiibo!!
Went to Toys r' Us this weekend and they had a nicer selection than most. Toon Links, Shieks, Toad, Link and Sonic were noted, and they also had a small stock pile of Pacman and Silver Mario in a glass cabinet. Everywhere else I went had nothing but Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Zelda.
Where is this supposed 'restock' I keep hearing Nintendo talk about?

Are you in Jordan Valley or something?Mechblue wrote:On the other side of the state, away from all the crazyness.Cronozilla wrote:Tell me your secret Oregonian locations! If you want I can pick up a wario and trade or you can just pay MSRP + shipping and I'll send it to you.
Thanks for the offer, I can't right now, sadly.
Re: Amiibo!!
That's some sorry excuse for a restock if they're ranging fairly well in the 1-2 or 1-4 range, that's awful. I still am determined to not overpay on Cap'n Falcon, Pit, Fox, and the recent Charizard. I'd like to think secondarily if it were super easy the Fire Emblem guys since I have Awakenings/Smash but I don't need them. I fear for ROB, Duck Hunt, and Chibi Robo.
A few others seem interesting but they are secondary characters like Falco, Dr Mario, the Kirby crew and Palutena. I just wish the poach and scalp tactics would dry up because Nintendo would get their act together. Personally if I paid via online for one including shipping I'd put up $20 max to cover the time, fees (ebay/pp?), packing materials, and gas of the individual and that's it.

This is relevant. http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06/25/ ... ure?page=2
Also, the supply might seem very low, but I don't think it's as low as people are arguing. Selling through over a million figures in 30 days is not a small amount.
Also, I have been hearing about people, though sporadically, being able to find stuff like Wii Fit Trainer when out and about. Is it rare? Yes. But is there actual supply coming through? Yeah.
I hope Nintendo lives up to the words they're putting out there now, because it's exactly what we want to see happen:
"We want the consumer to be able to find the amiibo they want. We’d love for the completionists out there to have every single amiibo and we’re working hard to enable that to happen"
In the article, Reggie does make it clear that it is a somewhat uphill battle. The demand is very high.
We'll see. Sadly, this kind of thing does take time. Amiibo aren't just single piece injector mold figures (Which is obvious). It makes sense that they take time, and shipping them on boats also takes a lot of time.
Also, I feel like there needs to be some perspective here. These numbers aren't 100% accurate, but they're ballparked, and it still illustrates an accurate point.
Some numbers on GI Joe are that, by 2004 they sold 400M figures. At that point in time GI Joe was 40 years old, and this is assuming they came out in January of 1964 (they probably didn't). If you average that out, that comes out to 833K figures sold a month (obviously in reality it goes up and down). Amiibo is selling 1M figures a month. GI Joe is one of the best selling toys ever. Currently, action figures don't sell in the million per month range (Though I had trouble finding a lot of numbers, if anyone has any that'd be nice to see). They sell in the millions per year range. Amiibo's current trend looks more like tens of millions per year. This is a significantly larger number than other toys. So, just a little perspective there.
