Actually, some of them aren't bad, some are all over the place. I'd buy there if I couldn't find a decent copy on Ebay. The condition factor will be huge to be honest, and it'll be unknown.

Ooph, depends on the game. Contra III for $50? Yeah, no thanks.Blu wrote:Get in here!

The prices I've seen so far were either right on the mark (i.e., no reason to hurry out and buy) or simply too high. Frankly I thought it'd be worse than that.
I don't see jack in terms of CB or CIB copies of the old stuff, but I don't really care to look too hard frankly.

IIRC, GameStop doesn't list whether their used games have a box or manual; it's just a crapshoot.Snatch1414 wrote:I don't see jack in terms of CB or CIB copies of the old stuff, but I don't really care to look too hard frankly.

Yep. Since I collect them cart-only, I would consider ordering NES and SNES games from them...but I already own every NES and SNES game available for purchase on GameStop's site.GSZX1337 wrote:IIRC, GameStop doesn't list whether their used games have a box or manual; it's just a crapshoot.Snatch1414 wrote:I don't see jack in terms of CB or CIB copies of the old stuff, but I don't really care to look too hard frankly.

I wouldn't discount the fact that most of us here aren't exactly 'mainstream' gamers. It's the 16-25 year old that can't wait for the new Tomb Raider they showed at E3 while most of us on this site were yawning and fast forwarding, and eats up any news about supposed AAA titles without stopping to think if they actually want the damn game. It's a convenience thing to go to GameStop (obviously).prfsnl_gmr wrote:Yep. I said this before when the news broke that they'd be selling retro stuff: I looked on Twitter that day and you would be shocked how many responses of "Finally!" and "About time!" were on there. There's a huge percentage of gamers that live on IGN all day and don't know or care what a hang tab is, and they're a lot larger group than us.

Just went through some of their listings and couldn't agree more, the prices are not shockingly high or low...just normal, which I guess is kind of shocking in its self. The unknown condition is a huge turn off, I can't stand disc only games (cart only is not as bad)Snatch1414 wrote:The prices I've seen so far were either right on the mark (i.e., no reason to hurry out and buy) or simply too high. The prices are all fairly terrible, but they're just mirroring what goes on ebay so it's not worse, other than the fact you have no idea about the condition. It could be a gem, it could be ripped, markered, sun bleached, and turning yellow in places. It's a shame they're not trying to undercut the scalping on there. I agree on Contra III, got that one like 3-4 weeks ago for $5.

Re: Gamestop NOW Selling Retro Classics
Most the PS1 games are decent prices, but of course none of them are actually in stock and it would be a gamble on whether it is complete or disk only and in good shape. $35 for MM Legends, $20 for Ghost in the Shell, $40 for Castlevania Chronicles, $60 Klonoa. All awesome prices if complete and in good shape.
