Also started up Fate Stay Night about 7 episodes in it seems interesting albeit a little slow and vague at this point. Basically 7 mages and their 7 summoned servants fight it out in modern day Tokyo in a "War" for the holy grail. The servants have an interesting mixture of historical and mythological heroes each of which has an interesting fighting style. Main character is a weak as hell goody two shoes who is a novice mage, but he will undoubtedly pull some OP magic out of his behind in the later episodes

Just finished up Garo Honoo no Kokuin which was a decent action/fantasy anime it had an interesting mix of humor, perversion, and action with plenty of likable characters and a few good albeit somewhat cruel twists. Overall it's worth checking out though. I'd give it a 6.5/10.

Owari no Seraph just ended it's first season with a pretty lack luster episode. Next season comes in October, but I'm not really to pumped about it story just seems to be dragging a lot.
Also finished Fate Stay Night didn't care much for the ending, but everything else was pretty solid. Not sure if I'm going to continue on to watch Zero though since I'm not much for prequels. Semi interested in Unlimited Blade Works although it shares the same story line for the most part as Fate Stay Night just with a focus on other characters.

Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat
So, moving back in with my parents (heh, oh well), I decided to invest in a Netflix DVD subscription because our data cap is ass. To my surprise Netflix actually has a surprising number of anime on DVD they don't have to stream. So this week, I'm finally going to watch Redline as well as start up Cowboy Bebop and Death Note. All things I've wanted to see for quite a while.
Also have Steins;Gate and Evangelion in the pipeline.
Durarara has been a favorite of mine for a few months. So far I don't think X2 has been quite as strong but it's still damn good.
Also, long overdue, I watched the original Ghost In The Shell the other night and it was godly. Absolutely loved it.

Oh man, I watched Redline on Bluray and it was a damn near transcendental experience. You'll likely be enraptured. Fantastic film, and an excellent demonstration of the artistic power of the anime art form.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I'm finally going to watch Redline
Death Note is a lot of fun, especially if you binge watch it and avoid spoilers.
I've been slacking on watching anime myself for the past six months. Damn shame because I have piles of series to watch in storage. There's only so much time in the day...

I'm really stoked to see Redline for sure. I like the premise and if everything anybody has ever said about the animation holds true, it will be an absolute ride. I probably should have gotten it on Blu-Ray but the Netflix trial didn't have an option to have both, just DVD or Blu-Ray availability. Still should look pretty great I'd think. Most anime seems to hold up on the format pretty well.

There's also a movie that's, I think, a different route for the same story as the first series. Being that it was originally a (hentai) visual novel, there are a lot of possible iterations.Fragems wrote:Not sure if I'm going to continue on to watch Zero though since I'm not much for prequels. Other anime movies you may not have seen, but simply must do so: Ninja Scroll, Dead Leaves, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Most anime seems to hold up on the format pretty well.

Two of those are among my top 5 Anime films ever (Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, and Princess Mononoke).Exhuminator wrote:Other anime movies you may not have seen, but simply must do so: Ninja Scroll, Dead Leaves, and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Most anime seems to hold up on the format pretty well.

Oh man. You can thank me later.
PS Make sure and watch the English dub version. That dub is legendary.

It's real cheap on Blu-Ray, and with the sharp animation it's definitely the way to go. I had no regrets buying it before trying it.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I'm really stoked to see Redline for sure.
