My wife spent the first 18 years of her life in Maine, and she visits frequently. Nonetheless, she has never seen a moose in the wild. I saw one while my father-in-law and I were fishing during my second visit to the state. She gets incredibly mad whenever I mention this fact.

I see 1 or 2 wild moose per year. Last one I saw was in the city of Augusta, which was kind of scary. Of course that photo is from a wildlife park, hence the fence.

My mom grew up in Maine. She has all sorts of stories about moose (and snow). And outhouses. Would not have wanted to have lived in Maine with an outhouse...

My old music teacher had an outhouse. I mean, she had indoor plumbing too. But there was also an outhouse.

I was born in Maine and have never lived anywhere else.
