Why the hell not? European Us don't break?

I would say get someone to proxy buy one for you if shipping wouldn't murder the deal, but the consoles are region locked. Fucking Nintendo!

I wouldn't wait for the NX, it's probably something like 2 years away. Even if it's closer than that, if it doesn't have backwards compatibility with the U then you waited for nothing.

I don't know, again it's an IF, but if the NX were discovered to have a slot on it to accept discs that would allow WiiU games to run, I'd think you'd be better off waiting. Launches are notorious for having a lot of turds and mediocrity around a gem or two, then an annoying long lull in stuff before another wave hits. All that time sitting with nothing to do could be filled with WiiU games, that is, if it did run the stuff. At the worst you're waiting a year or so to find it doesn't and the prices drop well further.

I think the only reason you should ever wait to purchase a console is if the games aren't there yet, the price is too high, or there's hardware issues.

Waiting for a potential two birds one stone situation with a new console launch is the gambler in you speaking, you should tell them to shut up.

I'm not saying it as a gambler, but a former owner. It's not worth currently buying because there's a total lack of non-Nintendo support so you get these very staggered releases, even more if the quality isn't there or you don't like that franchise. Waiting to see what NX may do will either pan out and you'll have plenty of WiiU filler around the NX games, or you end up waiting and it's just cheaper. It's not like there's a huge online community outside of Kart and Brawl, maybe Splatoon too where you may miss the boat if you're into that. Odds are looking how the other online Kart and Brawl games went there will be people blowing that up until the next system release of the franchise.

Don't listen to the man who says that the console with the best online community has no online community.

Wanting 10 - 15 games sounds like a buy to me. Why wait when there is that amount of games you want to play? And since he is going by metacritc means that's not counting future releases that he is interested in.

Due to Nintendo's demographics, heavy moderation, and the relatively small size of the service, Miiverse and the Wii U online community has been surprisingly positive and active in a way I really appreciate. Far less toxic than most communities, even in games that typically attract a negative set of people like Call of Duty.
