I think I already have one of those, but I'm thinking of alternatives

I know why ESPN talks about Tiger Woods everyday, and on every program, but after eight years can they not find a better story? I'd rather hear about how Arnold Palmer tea broke sales records for Arizona Tea than keep hearing about "when will Tiger not suck?".

And could we please have a little journalistic integrity? Not much, just a little. James is not the best basketball player in the world. His stats have consistently gone down since around 2010, but since some players aren't making movies with Disney (ya know, they own ESPN) and aren't showing up in commercials for conglomerates they get zero air time. The only thing I hear about the MVP of the NBA finals is that LeBron was robbed. I can't even tell you the name of the final's MVP because one, I can't spell it, and two, people are too busy talking about James.

Sports should be about talent, not sales and sponsorships. If you can sell a Big Mac it doesn't matter that you are 6'9 and miss game winning layups. If you can sell Nikes it doesn't matter if you shoot less than 20% from the three point line (which is at least three feet shorter now). Statistics don't matter if you push product and show up in a Jay-z video. You're the best player in the world if you are a corporate tool and a slave.

These athletes seem to keep getting more and more "genetically gifted" but don't seem to use their talent and push themselves. Muggsy Bogues played in a very combative era, was 5'3", shot around 50% from the floor and around 30% from the three point line. Now that is impressive. Muggsy and Gandma'ma didn't even to flop to get to the line.

I'm a "numbers guy", so whoever has the best stats gets my vote. I can, but haven't done, the math but my guesstimation is that across the board, including free throws, he's shoots around 30%. He's not too shabby at all when it comes to rebounds, not to good at steals, but okay at assists. And let's call a spade a spade, an assist in basketball today is giving up a shot. Bill Laimbeer made assists that created an entire new play. Today it's more like a game of hot potato. That or when a goalie in the NHL is credited for an assist for passing a puck along.

But best player? Maybe over the weekend I'll check out the stats and see who is a solid, clutch, go to guy. Someone who doesn't miss layups in a championship game and shoots better than 17% from beyond the arc.

Last play of the game? I'd probably even choose JJ Reddick over James to be clutch. And if it wasn't for Ray Allen, LeBron would be 1-5 in championships. He'd have one ring, and still declare himself as the best on the planet.

he's a solid 30ppg/10 boards/8 assist guy shooting around 50%+- from the floor that makes his teammates better. has been for his ENTIRE career. he's a freaking defensive end that can run the point or play any of the 5 spots. i'm a jordan guy and was a lebron hater in the beginning, but he's the best this generation, no doubt about it.

Only looking at stats is good for fantasy sports. It doesn't account for things like scheme, ability to take over games, leadership, big plays etc...
