Re: E3
So it looks like the new business model for Platinum Games is making half assed Bayonetta clones and slapping licenses on it. This already seems a lot like the Korra game they did

As if G1 Transformers actually fought like that. This looks so fucking stupid

And being happy because they're making something that you have been wanting is bad because...? I though it was hilarious how the people at IGN reacted at FF 7 and shenmue 3, that is great they're happy for the stuff they gettin in the future. It is manipulating on the hype of the people? Well that's arguable, it depends on each person but as long as they are gettin the product they are paying for and they're happy with it i don't see any problem.o.pwuaioc wrote:FWIW, I didn't follow E3, but I thought he wasn't grumpy. He was just hitting too close to home to people who do get excited, and that upsets some folks.

I was rather disappointed by the way the Transformers game looks too.Gamerforlife wrote:So it looks like the new business model for Platinum Games is making half assed Bayonetta clones and slapping licenses on it. This already seems a lot like the Korra game they did

I've always wanted a free transforming play how you want Transformers game in an open area, and I've never gotten that (Very minimal parts of the High Moon games approached it).
We need some expansive Transformers games so you can drive and fly around then jump up Transform and kick some ass. Limiting it to a shooter or melee combat game is still disappointing to me.
I'm sure the way the Platinum game will play will be fun, but it doesn't feel honest to Transformers.

Re: E3
This, his videos are very well made and thought out, but to those who still get excited about video games like a kid at Christmas, he may come off as a wet blanket. And until right before E3, I was feeling rather the same way. Gaming was looking a little bleak, especially Japanese gaming.o.pwuaioc wrote:Maybe you're not the target audience. Go check out Reddit's gaming subreddit and lots of posts are/were about how awesome FF7 will be, how cool the next Doom will be, etc.Damm64 wrote:As much as i love the content that bunnyhop puts on youtube i been following his views on E3 since day one and since all have been very winey, stating the obvious and hamering how consumers are stupid for being hyped.Pulsar_t wrote:

I wonder how this consumerism will look like a couple of decades from now.
I know all this stuff, i know they all are big comercials and publicity for their product, i know shenmue 3 kickstarter was a huge and incredible publicity stunt, i know how stupid and gimmicky pieces of plastic with with apps are, i know that watching a 2 second cutscene each time you kill someone with a chainsaw can become boring (then again that was the first freaking trailer showing something close to gameplay). ALL OF THAT IS OBVIOUS IF YOU HAVE A FUNCTIONAL BRAIN! How about you stop telling me how stupid i am for watching all of this and actually give me useful information (to be fair the written blogs where far more informative than this). GOD this was so ANNOYING to watch. You can skeptical and you can be a old grumpy cynical man who dosen't find joy on anything... this video just show the latter.
FWIW, I didn't follow E3, but I thought he wasn't grumpy. He was just hitting too close to home to people who do get excited, and that upsets some folks.
The only crime greater than the lack of a good Evangelion game is the lack of a good DBZ game. How a show so perfectly suited for an action game has repeatedly disappointed in that regard is mind boggling.Damm64 wrote:Looking at that transformers footage makes me think that platinum could make a cool DBZ game.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that all Platinum has ever done? I've certainly not played every game they ever created, but most if not all of them have been character action games to my knowledge. It's only natural that the more of them they make in total, and the more often they make them, the more each of their games are going to look similar to eachother.Gamerforlife wrote:So it looks like the new business model for Platinum Games is making half assed Bayonetta clones and slapping licenses on it. I feel old when talking to anyone my age yet too inexperienced to effectively talk to anyone older. Life is grand that way.

Platinum is/was basically Clover Studios reborn as well, so especially if you roll in Okami and such, their portfolio is a little more diverse.MrEco wrote: Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that all Platinum has ever done? That said, it does feel like at least a subset of their projects have become copy/pasting an IP into some largely pre-made game. Some of them are more impressive - Bayonetta, Vanquish, etc are a lot more robust than Korra or even Metal Gear Rising were. That Transformers game (and Starfox for that matter) are looking, to me, a lot more like the quick/low budget efforts they've had, rather than the over-the-top games.

Platinum did Infinite Space, which seems out of their comfort zone...

Pretty much. Although with Star Fox Zero one has to assume they will have to work outside their established comfort zone.MrEco wrote:Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that all Platinum has ever done?
Technically speaking, Platinum did not develop that game. Nude Maker was contracted to develop it for Platinum.noiseredux wrote:Platinum did Infinite Space
