Pillars of Eternity, offhand. Could possibly count Pier Solar, though of course, those of us that backed it at physical copy level have yet to see it...
Pillars, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, FTL,Banner Saga, Divinity, Shovel Knight, Republique, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen. The last 2 have sold well in early access.

Well give me a break I forgot how much that guy wanted to see them together. (just for that, an EARWORM I put upon you!) Most of us wanted to, also. Well, I did. I never liked how cold Ryo was towards her for much of the game. But then I started calling her more often, and there were just those moments where they got so *close* but then nope, I TROLL U again! At least we got the cool Hang-On rip off rescue moment. That was awesome.

Ahem. Moving on.

I wish I remember how it went, but in my quest to get the notebook filled, I actually witnessed a funny conversation between Ryo and the fishmonger or meat guy in Dobuita. It was a moment that only someone who wanted to fill in their notebook could see. If only I could remember what they said. dammit.

The most recent Kawaiikochan Gaming No Korner is about Shenmue III.

I don't know how many people besides me will appreciate the comic's weird sense of humor but I was amused.

I found this video with rare conversations in the first game, the whole thing's worth watching, but I think the moment at 10:25 was the one I remembered, the one after that is gold too.

I for one have beaten both Endless Ocean games and written glowing reviews for both of them on this very site. I don't think these are a good correlated analog for what Shenmue was doing.

It sounds like to me what you loved about Shenmue is its atmosphere. And if you feel like absorbing atmosphere is tantamount to actual gameplay, than I can totally understand why you loved this game.
I wasn't trying to equate their gameplay, merely equating how both games have been declared "Not proper games" by people who fail to understand what games are (EGM refusing to review Endless ocean because it "didn't have a boss" and G4 putting Shenmue 1 as the "worst game of all time").

Hahahaha,

"You had no intention of joining our gang. You didn't even wanna get a tattoo, didn't you."
"Nope, I was just looking for a guy named Charlie. Sorry I lied."
"And I was seriously considering letting you join our gang. Ahh, anyway, it's OK."

That and,

"Ryo, can I ask you something?
"Uh, yeah..."
"Whenever I pass by that place, this urge is so strong, I'd happily pay...I, all I wanna do is, cut Tom's hair, you know?
"Uh, yeah..."

YES! I love the references!

Did you know that Fuku-san has a crush on someone in the Dobuita? You can untangle that complicated love connection and it is quite hysterical.

Also!? Think that buying soda is useless! Not so dear doubters! When buying a soda, you have a chance in getting a winning Shen Hua can which can be redeemed at the Tomato Convenience store for a raffle ticket OR use it in the Shenmue Passport to unlock character bios and VMU profile pictures that are animated.

Sadly, you can't use the Shenmue Passport features anymore as they require an internet connection to a no longer active server.
