Doesn't that just mean you're both being too oblique?

The best part about this is that Luke and I are both comedians.

So I am planning to go watch Jurassic World in the next day or so. I haven't read anyone's reviews and don't want any spoilers or impressions, but:

Do I need to revisit Lost World or Jurassic Park 3?

I haven't seen either since they were in the theater and my memory of them is fuzzy. Would it help to reorient myself, or are the films ignored?

I have the first one practically memorized, so no need to rewatch it.

No and no. You can utterly ignore everything but the first movie.

No, you will be absolutely fine without rewatching them.

Well, to be fair, that doesn't necessarily make you funny.

That isn't to say that neither of you are funny. It's just that a statement of being a "comedian" to indicate you are funny is basically the same as stating you are a "director" to indicate you make good movies.

I am not a comedian, but outside these forums I am considered funny. Does that then make me a comedian? Or do I have to stand in front of folks and tell jokes? How many folks qualifies me? Should I make money telling jokes to be considered a comedian?

Again, I'm not saying that you (or Luke) are not funny, I have laughed at jokes from the both of you. I just don't understand the distinction between a "comedian" and anyone else who fancies themselves funny. For instance I could say that Dane Cook is a comedian, I could even argue he is a more successful comedian than anyone here, but the guy is not funny, at least so far as I'm concerned. This leads me to believe that being a comedian and being funny do not necessarily go hand in hand.

That is a ridiculous amount of thought to put in the matter, I know. But, I'm curious as comedians what is your take on it? Seriously, I'm not being a smart ass.

I think you're taking this a bit more seriously than I am, truth be told. Luke and I fired off a few shots about bad movies, but I figured we were having a laugh. Sampson and Prfsnl's comments came off as further jokes, so I felt a rebuttal about us being comedians would be even better. I know Luke does standup, and I'm getting into improv, but we're not professionals at all. We're just having a laugh about being unfunny and playing off each other.
