Will this top Iga's record?

Of most funded game? I guess we'll see. It's up to 850k right now, after only a couple of hours, so it's certainly on track. I recall thinking Bloodstained stalled out a bit after being funded, but every stretch goal they revealed gave it a little boost. Right now most of Shenmue's extra goals are language options, so as they get higher it'll be interesting to see what else they might have in store.

I think Shenmue has more cult status to it. The people who want it REALLY want it, but it doesn't have as broad of an appeal as Metroidvanias have. The Shenmue fandom is similar to the Mother fandom in that regard; both are quite passionate about it but it's niche.

Yeah I have to admit I've played a little of the first game and just... didn't get it. "Have you seen this person?" from door to door is all I remember.

But the hardcore fanbase is amusingly awesome.
