Played this game in university after a Canadian friend recommended it. The music is pretty cool. Played a bit just now and couldn't make it past the level 2 boss.
I think my score was about 68,000. There's no high score screen (I think) on the SNES version so couldn't take a picture of my score at game over.

That's right, there isn't. Try your best to get a picture/screenshot if playing the SNES version. One benefit of completing it at the end is that you get a ton of cash (not points) for clearing the final mission, and the score stays on screen for a while. It can be done!Nyukki wrote:. I'll have to keep the camera ready when I play then. What made you choose this game in particular? Is it a childhood favourite?

Yup. It was one of the first SNES games that really "wowed" me. I had the SNES 4 days after launch in '91, and got this game 3 months later. I spent a lot of time with it, finding the best ways to do well at it, and although it would be tough to 1cc it these days, I can get really far. I've completed it (with continues) on the hidden "Gamer" difficulty. Plus, I wanted to be more familiar with the arcade version, which is very different than the SNES port.Nyukki wrote:I'll have to keep the camera ready when I play then. Before this game I had Super Mario World, F-Zero, and Pilotwings. I was already impressed by these other 3 games (who wouldn't have been in 1991?) but just as a shmup I knew it was gonna be great. It was the next game I really wanted to have.o.pwuaioc wrote:What did you have before it?ExedExes wrote:Yup. It was one of the first SNES games that really "wowed" me. That music in the level select screen, I knew I'd heard it before. Then I realised it's Chocolate Rain! Or should I say Chocolate Rain is the UN Squadron level select theme.

I got a SNES score by way of the Retron 5.
ExedExes - 452,900 - Stage 9 - Shin - SNES

Not bad for being out of practice, but I always hated that ceiling boss.

Arcade score now. I see now the SNES port was more of an expansion to the original.
ExedExes - 234,230 - Stage 6 - Shin - MAME
