I love VC and Wii-Ware but I only buy the really rare and japanese titles I can't afford. the games I want to play right now.
The only reason I hold back is the Nintendo license agreement. This policy was true a year ago when I sent my WIi in for repair per a Nintendo CSR. The games you bought are not associated with any account or you, they are only for play on THAT Wii console. If it breaks Nintendo is NOT required to replace your games on a new system you purchase. If the internal memory is damaged even during repair and you are unable to re-download them for any reason Nintendo is NOT required to replace your games.
So basically what you are buying for WIi VC is the rights to play that game on your console. It would be ethical of Nintendo to allow all Wii-Ware and VC titles to be playable on next-gen systems but why would they? At this point we don't even know if Xbox Live arcade games will be playable next-gen using your account.
Emulation is fine in some instances. I believe people should have their works protected by copyright if they want and respect that. I produce video content and music for a living, publishers pay me for it. If a publisher wants to sell something they paid for they should be paid for its distribution if that is their choice. I don't care how long ago they made it. If it holds value currently like VC games obviously do.

Re: VC vs ROM
Your leasing the games not buying them. Theres nothing like holding the product in hand. When you consider the crappy build quality of todays consoles, having a disc over a download is the way to go. You brought up a great point, thanks.gradualmeltdown wrote:I love VC and Wii-Ware but I only buy the really rare and japanese titles I can't afford. the games I want to play right now.

Re: VC vs ROM
VC may have been good in some cases *Allowing Pal to finally play super mario RPG and Sin and Punishment cause the sequal to be released here*
But they over price roms and the emulation isnt even that good atleast with free roms the plugins on emulators can improove proformance and enchance gameplay visuals
Nintendos spewing the same old junk out like they always have
because Originality is their middle name -___-
