No worries, chief. I remember the run being the pinnacle of the Marvel Knights more "adult" themed entries. It was considerably more violent and gory than nearly anything else I was reading around the time, and I guess it occurred at just the right time to survive Marvel reviving itself with the Ultimate line.nullPointer wrote:You're absolutely right, and that's the real clincher. The Ennis stories were totally a net win for the title, I just lament that the character had to be dumbed down in the process. OTOH I'm probably being far too generous to suggest that the character was ever really intended for a 'sophisticated audience'. I suppose in a way Ennis was just bringing old school British comics sensibilities in the vein of of say 2000 AD to an already established title. I should probably attempt to go back and reread his run at some point, as having a bit of critical distance might help me to view it differently, but at the time I found it to be quite the tough pill to swallow.Ack wrote:What Garth Ennis did is still worlds better than what Christopher Golden did with him. What Ennis did revived the character in an attempt to make him relevant again. You may argue it was unsuccessful, but the alternative was to see him disappear.

I can never forgive that show for giving birth to NCIS.Sano wrote:Trying to finish all the seasons of J.A.G.

Season 3 of "Orange is the New Black" debuted on Netflix early!
Re: So what have you guys been watching lately?
I haven't watched a single episode of it, but when a friend mentioned "Game of Thrones" I immediately asked "You mean like musical chairs?". He responded "Yeah. But with boobs, dragons, and a midget".
I need to see this show.

I was into it for the first two seasons, but then I realized it would be 2030 before the show actually finished airing so I lost my will to care.

I watched the first two seasons, then got bored in season 3. It's extremely well produced, I'll give it that, but I was mainly interested in the political and warfare aspects of the show and it seemed to focus more and more on characters instead... and not the ones I liked, either. And all the factions kept splitting and getting their numbers thinned out.Pulsar_t wrote:I might be the last geek on Earth with 0.0% interest in Game of Whor.. Thrones I mean
I had the same issue with The Walking Dead. Three seasons in and no resolution in sight. I don't have the attention span for that.

Yea I'm getting tired of TWD as well, it has no end in sight either. I will continue to watch it on streams, just because little else is interesting on telly
