I wouldn't worry too much about DOSBox. The place I'd expect failures is games from Win95/98 era that you've currently got installed.

this is what I assumed too. I feel like my brief time w/ Win8 yielded a lot more trouble playing 95/98 stuff than I've run into on 7. Though in fairness I never really looked for workarounds/patches/etc because I didn't keep 8 as my primary OS for long enough to spend the effort.

What 95/98 games are you trying to play?

My two biggest problem children were Grim Fandango and Rocket Jockey. Sadly Rocket Jockey is still dead to the modern gaming audience.

oh nothing right now. That's sort of my point. At this point every single game I've ever thrown at Windows 7, I've found a way to make it run (with the exception of my DOS vers of Dragon's Lair... but I ended up buying it on Steam anyway). I'm just talking about my fear that when I upgrade to 10 I'll find that some of the 95/98 games that I was successful in running on 7 will no longer work on 10.

hey so Windows 10 is a thing that's now officially available to the public.

I know this is dumb but the only way I will upgrade to Windows 10 is if I get back the Windows 7 Ultimate licence used when I built my PC years ago.

Like I said it's dumb but there ya go. I'm being very difficult with moving on. I got burned with Vista and found an OS that is better than XP.

The only thing I'm interested in with regards to Windows 10 is if I can still use Windows 7 and not have it be obsolete with current software.

I can only assume any reluctance you guys have is from the bad taste leftover from Win8? I can tell you that the preview builds of 10 were great. I've been looking forward to it since. As I've said in the past, my experience was that it took the good ideas and speed of Win8 and put them in a Win7 environment, but left out all the annoyance of 8.

I'll most likely be installing on my Alienware laptop tonight. Though I might wait until I upgrade to an SSD and just do it all at once. Not sure yet.

I'll be waiting a few weeks before upgrading my gaming PC though. Want to make sure everything looks safe and sound as far as my games go.

Sadly Windows 10 Enterprise won't be available until August 1st. It seems this was first announced yesterday as far as I can tell.

I'll survive the 3 day wait but why on earth would you release the business version on a weekend?
