FFVII spiked in price when at one point you could buy greatest hits copies for $20 new. I remember buying my first disc only copy for $15 at gamestop when I bought my PS2 but didn't have enough money to afford a PS2 game.
I had heard the price of the network adapters had gone up and seeing the thread in Buy/Sell/Trade where a guy sold an auction of 6 for $300 prompted me to check their prices. They seem to sell around $50 each.
I also saw this completed listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/Playstation-PS2-Sys ... 240%3A1318
Easy money. Check your local craigslist. I found a PS2, all hookups, controller, network adapter and 1 game for $50. I'm going to buy it, and seeing the above listing probably just toss it all up on the ebay, starting bid of 119.99.
Just thought I'd share.

Yeah, I've seen this too. Trouble is I haven't found a ps2 with network adaptor on CL for less than $100.

Yup. I recently sold an extra one I had for $47 on ebay. When they weren't so pricey I used to see them fairly often at Gamestops. Now that they go for $40 - $60 on ebay it seems that enterprising Gamestop managers are increasingly keeping them for themselves and selling for profit.
Makes me even happier that might wife had the good sense to pick up a PS2 she saw at a garage sale a few years ago for $15 (it came with a network adapter).

Sweet deal. I gotta Network Adapter just sitting around somewhere; was gonna do that deal with putting a hard drive in the PS2 so I could rip games to it, but just went with Swap Magic instead. Guess I better find that thing and keep it safe.

Re: PS2 Network Adapter is the New FFVII
why is this?? for modding the system? i know it cant be so ppl can play games online....
Re: PS2 Network Adapter is the New FFVII
Just for keeping your games on an HDD instead of swapping discs all the time. I never use my XBOX's optical drive anymore. I'd really prefer to do the same with the PS2.

Re: PS2 Network Adapter is the New FFVII
It seems that as more and more systems start getting DRE the network adaptor + HDD becomes the legitimate solution to the problem.
I guess buying a network adaptor was cheaper than buying another PS2. Hence the surge in price.
I bet you could sell the NA with a HDD for $100 on ebay easily. Then sell the PS2 seperate.

So strange. I was just in Gamestop the other day and they had about 20 PS2 network adapters for the usual price of $15. I'm so glad I picked one up 8 months ago.

Takes money to make money... I have no money to begin the process.
