Makes me wonder with Mighty No. 9 coming out soon and a new Igavania on the horizon, and neither game is linked to the company that started those gameplay styles.

Pretty sure everyone is saying the same thing about Capcom and Konami by now, they should just sell off their IP, and go the way of the dinosaur.

Alright, I just finished the first couple chapters of The Last Story and now I'm stuck. Where's the option to fuck Syrenne? If there isn't one, is there at least an option to hook up with Mirania? Between the two, there's gotta be something.

Seriously though, I'm not really digging this game. I'll give it some more play time later to see if it grows on me, though.

All of which are white. And, like the article points out, not only are Poles white, even the minorities of Poland like Ukranians, Silesians, Belorussians and Germans are white.

The issue here is that Americans see this, pun intended, in purely black and white terms and don't realize that characterizing Poles as being part of a privileged "white culture" is ignorant if not downright offensive on several levels.

Exactly... in the last 100 years, they've been invaded and occupied into Nazi Germany, and then forcibly made into a communist Soviet nation. My grandmother was born in pre-Nazi Germany, and emigrated when she won a visa lottery in the late '50s. Even in her 70s, she would still eat food if she burnt it while cooking just because of how scarce it had been when she was growing up, and she was stunted from malnutrition as a child. She was Catholic... so of course, she had it relatively good compared to certain other groups within Poland. It's no stretch at all to say Poles have endured far worse than any American minority since 1900.

Unrelated fun fact: she later got over hating Germans, but she always disliked Russians and said the Soviets were worse than the Nazis.

Is the whole world that Witcher takes place in devoid of other human races and no immigration exist or minorities exist even?

As noted in the article, the world of the Witcher is similar to our own and there are indeed other human races, some of which appear in the game at several points. I'm don't know if you have played any of the games, you don't seem to have, but the main villain of the first game,Azar Javed, is black, for example.

Still, I don't think you realize how overwhelmingly white Poland is even today. Or how as much of a "minority" Poles are in European terms.

North American and western European nations are very racially diverse, compared to eastern European, Asian, and African nations. I suppose it's easy to start thinking that the whole world is and should be the way it is at whatever spot you live at.

For your reference, here's Poland's current ethnic demographics:

0.10% Belarusian
0.09% Ukrainian

0.03% Romani
0.02% Lemko
4.86% other

Every one of those groups is white except for "other," and part of other probably includes other white minorities such as Russians and Hungarians. Poland's about as white as Japan is Asian. And that's in today's modern era of travel; these demographics would only be even more concrete in the old times that The Witcher is set in.

You just need to hit your head on more sign posts, then Syrenne will be all over your junk.

If it helps, the game is not typical jrg length, I finished it up in about 24 hours. However, if you aren't enjoying it by now (not sure how far you are), I don't think there is much later on that would hook you. I personally loved the game though.

Here's an anecdote: I crossed from Poland from Zakopane, to Krakow to Warsaw two years ago and I didn't see a single non-white person while I was there. It's that homogenous.

If you aren't enjoying The Last Story after a few chapters, chances are you won't be enjoying the rest of the game either. What you've seen is what you get more of. Personally I didn't care for the meh plot and terrible frame rates, but the battle system was amazing and kept me going.

Yep, The Last Story is one of my favorite JRPGs from the last few years. It's been a long time since anything kindled some of the feelings I had with Chrono Trigger or FFVI, and you can really feel the influence in spots. And the battle system is great. I recommend going manual, not auto-attack, though.

I liked NHL 06 a lot. I have 08 or 09 on PC... but I haven't actually played it. I should.
