I'm still debating what I want to do. I'm gonna just have to wait and see. On my desktop, I don't think I want to upgrade to 10. But maybe I will on my laptop? I guess it'll come down to: What will I lose, and what will I gain? I'm also trying to decide if I should do the upgrade on my parent's desktop.

Eventually my Gaming pc will be updated, I wont be updating my tablet. No reason to lose more space to the OS.

I anticipate moving to it in fairly short order. I will probably upgrade my Surface Pro first, since I don't have much on that anyway. Leaning towards upgrading my system drive in my desktop when I update it to 10, so I might put that off for a little.

I'm going to let it preload on my main machine and my Surface Pro, actually do the upgrade on the Pro first and see what happens, then do the main machine.

will upgrade my laptop immediately, but my gaming PC I'll wait a few weeks til I feel safe that it won't stop me from doing any gaming.

I do wonder if you can roll back your 10 license to 7 again if you need/want?

Make a backup before you upgrade.

Will that work though? I'm just assuming that once you activate 10 Microsoft will make your 7 Key invalid. Otherwise I would probably dual boot on my desktop right away.

I don't think so. All Windows licenses come with downgrade options. This should, too.

Could be wrong, I don't know the specifics, but that's what I was planning on doing.

I wonder though if you'd get all your old programs back after upgrading to 10 and then downgrading. I say that because:

Applications, files and settings will migrate as part of the upgrade, however some applications or settings may not migrate. For Anti-virus and Anti-malware applications, during upgrade Windows will check to see if your Anti-virus or Anti-malware subscription is current. Windows will uninstall your application while preserving your settings. After upgrade is complete, Windows will install the latest version available with the settings that were set prior to upgrade. If your subscription is not current, upgrade will enable Windows defender. Some applications that came from your OEM may be removed prior to upgrade. For certain third party applications, the “Get Windows 10” app will scan for application compatibility. If there is a known issue that will prevent the upgrade, you will be notified of the list of applications with known issues. You can choose to accept and the applications will be removed from the system prior to upgrade. Please be sure to copy the list before you accept the removal of the application. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows ... ifications

I'm tempted to put 10 on one of my machines just so I can trash talk Cortana.
