Columns 3 inquiry

I've been playing, Columns 3 - Revenge of Columns, lately and I have to ask, how do you beat the computer? I can never actually win a round...but I always have a drastically better score than the computer. Is there something that I am missing?

I had this same problem when I started playing this game, you have to drop a row of jewels on their side or it reduces the jewels on your side,it's done by pressing the C button.I hope this helps, I never really beat this game I only made it second to the last boss and than lost.This game is probably one of the best Columns games that Ive played and the music sounds like Sonic which is a good thing.
